Passports don’t need a signature so I don’t see why birthday cards would. They’d have probably just sent it tracked 24 if they could get it from the post office…

Exactly, tracked product would be ideal for lots of items posted in post offices, but it's not available.

Oh yeah talking about specials FFS get the 1pm deadline extended to say 5pm it's also well outdated, or even offer it as a premium like sat guaranteed, it's made it even worse recently as we're temporarily on summer attendance.

Why is that ?

Why cannot a customer simply come into the Post Office and get Tracked 24/48 instead of only online i believe (correct me if i am wrong)
I can go into the PO with a QR code and get it printed so why not simply offer it as standard ?

Most likely because Royal Mail and the Post Office are not only separate companies but are in competition with each other. So RM sells Tracked online only and offers free collection to cut the Post Office completely out of the loop.

Some PO branches also sell services of rivals to RM.

Not the best ever, but certainly the best available for this type of work. And there is no doubt that they look after me at our DO. They clearly appreciate the work ethic that is so visibly absent with a lot of the longstanding employees.

But I don’t work every Saturday and Sunday, 52 weeks of the year. You need to get your facts right, chum/ex colleague, before shooting from the hip with misinformation/wrong facts.

But do tell us about your own exciting new job and lucrative Ts and Cs. We can surmise that is hardly keeping you content with your lot as you feel the need to contribute to a forum intended for CURRENT EMPLOYEES.

Deserve what I get? I’m more than happy in the job. I’m sorry that your situation was very different, and how you still can’t let go. It might help you if you concentrate more on your new job and less on your old.

Had a good chat with a nice ex employee of 21 years’ standing today who has taken a job delivering prescriptions for a local pharmacy. He has been out less than nine months. He made it no secret that he is dearly missing being a postman, despite thinking he hated the job in his last few years, and he is very actively looking to come back. Indeed, he has repeatedly spoken to the COM about vacancies in our office and is looking to apply for a part time role in April, when apparently they will be taking on again. He said his biggest regret was leaving in the first place. He also said — very interestingly, I think — that he only grew to believe he did hate the job from all the negative talk from other postmen and the union that made him think they were being “had” by Royal Mail and that the job was awful — he now realises, having come to his senses, that the job isn’t awful.

PS: Lou gives some excellent advice for CarryingMgt above - really couldn’t have put it better or clearer myself! I’m wondering if they even have a new start time (or a new job, for that matter) given their continued obsession with their former job.
