So we were, until mid-January, starting at 6.54am. It was then changed to the current start time of 7.15am. We've just been told that in June we will now be starting at 8.37am! WTF.
Whole this is a shambles, this union is a disgrace
It is RM driving this change. NOT the union. It will be the hard work of the union that has mitigated the later starts for the majority of the offices. Without union involvement you will have been told it will be 90 minutes later and thats that. Like it or lump it.

What would you have done differently? Do tell?
Tbh, that’s a fair summation of where the union’s at nowadays. Without them, you’d be starting 90mins later. With them, you’ll start a mere 82mins later.

I think within a year it's gong to be 90 mins everywhere and I can't see the union being able to do anything about it.

This is incorrect. It doesn't even make any logical sense let alone the little bit of knowledge I have on the matter.
So, A DO 50 miles from the MC will be 90 mins? A DO 10 mins from the MC, 90 mins? A DO attached to the DO...90 mins also? I think it's fairly clear what im getting at. You don't know what you are talking about.

I wondered about that, the only thing I can think of is they run the sequencing for the closer do's last so the despatch time is earlier for the furthest away to give a similar arrival time, as I say I've no idea just guessing.

ALL the DOs locally WILL BE about an hour later anyway.

Wave 2 is walk sort only, unless RM plan on having us go back to sequence it, though tbqf some batches some nights can se so quite on wave 2 that it's barely worth even bothering to walk sort them.
A lot of the time will be accounted for the later arrivals into the MC and the time to process that mail.

You've now reduced your claim by 30 mins. You've gone form all will be 90s mins to most will be 60 mins. Where as I know this to be factually untrue. We will all find out soon enough. Within the next 7 days probably.

If you had your glasses on, you'd have read that I said WITHIN A YEAR. As you're too lazy to read what I put, here's it quoted just for you:

What are you basing this on? They can’t retain staff now. It is no good having later and later times if you have no workers to fill the hours.
I've been a Postman for almost 37 years. I certainly have no stress. I work in a small rural office, i just start on time and finish on time. Our manager is based 30 miles away, we only see him every few months, nobody bothers us. I realise i'm lucky compared to alot.

The last lorry for us will end up being around an hour later. Just about all RM lorries (might well be all of them now) are double stackers and iirc they hold about 88 yorks. You need to allow the time for that lorry to be unloaded, the work on it processed and sent out to distribution. At the time of the day it arrives, the early shift is doing 2C and T48 so they can't throw all their staff at the later stuff. The 2C has a set deadline for when it has to be available to be loaded onto the lorry. Any mech on that lorry will only be sorted down to office level, no idea how much mech they expect to be on it.

Don't worry they are planning on filling those vacancies with supernumerary workers from mail centres plus the extra ones that will be created when the hubs take more work away from mail centres. If those workers are anything like the ones we've had comes across from collections they won't last more than a fortnight so it's a short term solution but if they leave by their own choice it's a win for royal mail because it saves having to payout even the new crappy vr terms on offer

In reality there are no supernumerary as every shift uses at least half a dozen casuals everyday.
