In all honesty I've probably delivered a fair few recorded letters by accident. Those ones in small print at the top of the letter are very easy to miss.


Also, I don't know why many of our Tracked items also need a signature. Surely the photo at the door is proof enough that it has been delivered?

ive had several special delivery letters miss the locker and come in my buddy boxes due to that cheap franking theyve decided to do. And they smudge in the rain so cant scan them

We found a couple of these franked specials on a frame today — at 1.30 pm! Managers only picked it up when running some sort of report and after frantically searching the locker.

All I think I pointed out was an example of human error? My tune remains the same - concert pitch (A440) - and I stand by my earlier sentiments: the job remains the best available on the labour market for what it is.

Just spotted that you are not even a current employee! Why do you waste your time posting on a forum for current employees of RM? If you miss it and want to come back your only route back in is on a new-style contract. Is that why you are so resentful/bitter? Don’t worry, I’ll have a light bitter to drink for you tonight!!

I'm less inclined to do it with letters, purely because I've had a few refuse to sign before. One was clearly on the verge of being evicted so refused to sign, and one was in the process of getting divorced and wouldn't sign. The only time I will for those is if there's a ring doorbell and they okay it. For parcels I will though, for those I know are okay with it, I'll do it. I have my own round though. I'd be less inclined to do it as a reserve.

They could argue that in any case. Virtually nobody actually signs anyway, it's just a line or squiggle. As others have said, the signatures are pointless in most cases.

Passports don’t need a signature so I don’t see why birthday cards would. They’d have probably just sent it tracked 24 if they could get it from the post office…

Exactly, tracked product would be ideal for lots of items posted in post offices, but it's not available.

Oh yeah talking about specials FFS get the 1pm deadline extended to say 5pm it's also well outdated, or even offer it as a premium like sat guaranteed, it's made it even worse recently as we're temporarily on summer attendance.

Why is that ?

Why cannot a customer simply come into the Post Office and get Tracked 24/48 instead of only online i believe (correct me if i am wrong)
I can go into the PO with a QR code and get it printed so why not simply offer it as standard ?

Finally absolved myself from 'the business' specifically 'Delivery' 20 years at RM, genuinely a weight off the shoulders, literally and figuratively. Thank f*** Best of luck to all my (ex)work colleagues) Delivery posties are absolute Troopers! worst job I've ever had the misfortune to work. Good luck

Agree wholeheartedly. It’s like they instantly regret their decision but their pride doesn’t allow them to come back - albeit on inferior terms, yet still market-leading for the type of work. The sorry irony is their pride means they end up working for Tesco et al for less than £12 an hour - cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face.

Most likely because Royal Mail and the Post Office are not only separate companies but are in competition with each other. So RM sells Tracked online only and offers free collection to cut the Post Office completely out of the loop.
