I have every sympathy for him- as if we’ve not got long enough walks as it is.

Some of those bristles actively push beck on the mail, especially it seems the ones at floor or head height so you have to two hand it. Lucky they got their letter at all.

Some houses with the electric cars are becoming hazardous, black wires hung about a foot off the ground in some cases. If they want us delivering after dark there could be serious injuries.

To prevent complaints about damaged mail, I suggest that if the letterbox is blocked, covered over, or interferes with the letters in any way, then said letterbox is not fit for purpose

Try calling on the house, and if no answer - mark the letters as inaccessible and move on to the next house

Personally I think you are in your right to kill mail off you can’t deliver. Just mark it as inaccessible and move on. We don’t have time to knock for letters.

Anyone else faced with houses that think it's a great idea to cover their front door with a great big bow and cover the letterbox?

Example:

One on my round right now. Mark it inaccessible and move on. Maybe they can have their mail in January for a treat but we don’t have time to scan every item and knock every door.

Oh ffs can't they manage to pull the flap down themselves?? Had a jobsworth yesterday who gave me a letter that was addressed for next door. It often happens when I'm flicking through a few days of mail. He was barely one metre away from posting it in the right letterbox himself but instead decided to shout me over from 400 yards away for me to post it instead.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I had one yesterday that actually catapulted the letter back out of the letterbox.

I should imagine most of the customer complaints actually relate to the non-delivery of items, especially mail. A few of my customers have noticed that they don't get post for a week and then half a dozen letters at once.

The poor postie must have been soaked, just joys of having to work between Christmas & New Year while everybody else is down the pub or watching Netflix 🤣

That'll be someone collecting stuff from the DO from now on (when the postie starts carding anything that doesn't go through the letter box really easily
