I know that one office in sussex, a big one at that did not deliver one letter on saturday, only parcels .
On the managers sayso
So what?
If you don't have the resources available to deliver everything what do you do?

I bet they delivered Special Delivery letters.
IM sorry but people have paid to have their 1st class letters delivered in a time specified too buy a regulator which is law by the way ,all items paid for should be treated the same or this means they are breaking the law ,now if its said like you do they haven't enough resources then on alternative days all letters should go out and not parcels, royal mail are in breach of the law everyday and should be fined accordingly until as of such time the company stops paying shareholders millions of pounds out of a company which is failing to work within the law. These companies should be brought to book and made an example of ,the water companies too ,the trouble we have is they are all the mates of the Tories.
Packets and Tracked have had priority in MCs for many years. If the packets or Tracked sections are in the s**t, flats and manual letters will get sacrificed to free up enough staff to clear the packets and Tracked
Still illegal to prioritise parcels over letters until government change the law doesn't matter how they dress it up.

What you are or not really doesn't matter to us, you talk like if we would all just put a bit of effort in we could all be like you and earn £40k. Some of us don't want to or need too.
No, I am pointing out that the job pays well above National Minimum Wage. People on here are keen to spout a myth that the pay is barely minimum wage.

Do you speak on behalf of the site admin or just on your own behalf?

What's the point in reporting it to OFCOM when they claim it's just maverick COM's telling us to concentrate on Tracked items?

£14.60 is my hourly rate, with overtime paid at £18.25 per hour (x1.25). Nothing delusional about it — the money has been going into the bank at that rate and I have payslips to boot. It equates to circa £39,248 per annum assuming one rest day each week worked. What is delusional?
How are you earning £14.60 an hour if you are a newish to this job?. That’s a London rate, nobody outside will earn that an hour as a newbie.

It's doable, we've been clearing with a bit of can do and going over by about half hour. Ya know like we used to do at this time of year. Or we can kick off and be miserable that a private company wants us to work the minutes we get paid. And yes that's with a full massive e-van. There is no mail! Crack on with our new parcel job!
I love to see you doing my 6 hour (soon to be increased to 7) in the 4 hours allotted.
lol why the f**k you running around doing 6 hours work, soon to 7 hours in 4 hours?

It's only illegal if somebody decides to enforce the law, OFCOM have shown a total disregard for doing that even going as far as totally ignoring the concerns raised by the Parliamentary Committee. It's now a bit like moaning about cyclists riding on the pavement, nobody is ever going to take any action against them to stop them.

So if someone fails part of their duty (fails therefore the USO) because they can't really be arsed in the rain that is illegal is it?
Who will arrest them?

Some of you wannabee lawyers should take your heads out of your arses.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

So, lets all calm down or 'eh eh eh , calm down, we all know that rm have consistenly raised the price of postage knowing full well delivery targets are unachievable, surely this is fraud. they laugh at regulation and beleive they are invincible, they are not. the time will come when fat cats will come to account.

Not delivering letters is highly unethical as well as illegal. We might be staff but we, and our loved ones, are also customers reliant on the British postal service that is not operating as it should.

For those of us who used to comply with the principle of not bringing mail back because we have integrity and strive to live up to our responsibilities, and not just because we might get sacked or disciplined if we didn't, we still feel exactly the same. On paper, we are supposed to as well, there's just this dishonesty around how RM want to pretend they still hold these standards whilst actually making it impossible for us to meet them.

We know we are being forced to let people down, people like ourselves and our Mum and Dad etc, who are waiting for things that it's supposed to be our responsibility to deliver to them.

I want to know when someone's going to address the fact that the regulator is not meaningfully regulating because the system is supposed to be set up to counter the fact that large companies like RM are often devoid of integrity.

Hahaha if you think the time will come when they will be taken to task, think again. I was like you and believed eventually somebody would come down hard on these people ( And they have had plenty of opportunity) yet nobody has bothered, they eventually decided to fine them and lo and behold it's little more than the change in their pocket, it's never gonna happen and certainly not under this government.
They will continue to raise the price on stamps so mail becomes like a "premium product" and then they will have the parcel delivery company they desire.

So the national living wage is £10.42 and you are quoting what exactly as being well above minimum, because unless its £20 - £30 per hr its not well above the minimum. Quoting the o/t rate doesn't count as you are supposed to be payed extra to reward you for going above and beyond. If RM had there way you wouldn't even get that, they wanted annualised hrs, say goodbye to your £40k in a few yrs when that comes to pass.
I am not anything to do with the running of this site but if you have thin-skin perhaps it's better to give this forum a miss.

Nah, I definitely won’t give the forum a miss. It is actually too much of a good laugh to see the sense of superiority and self entitlement oozing from some contributors, e.g. “Those of us who have done so much for the business over the years” and the ilk. I will continue to correct gross exaggerations like “barely NMW” even if at the risk of incurring the wrath of a few narrow-minded contributors. As MWalker is belatedly discovering, the grass is definitely not greener on the other side, and RM is very well paid for what the work entails, with reasonably good benefits and a very generous pension when compared to working elsewhere (though not as generous as yours, of course!, as your union created an apartheid where you get better pay and benefits than us on “shitey” contracts). I will continue to give a fairminded view to matters, thanks.

Brief reality check: the thousands of new recruits on these new “shitey contracts” are the future of the Royal Mail workforce. They are a great bunch of people. Some will stay, some will decide it’s not for them. And be under no illusion, if they leave, RM will continue to recruit until they have the requisite number of people in post. Although not for me, some of these new recruits will, in time, climb the ladder and become the next generation of Royal Mail managers, becoming my manager – and yours! Ponder on that…
