this farce ends on SUNDAY 17TH DEC , so come monday the 18th i will be back to my normal start time and 37 hour week , oh and roll on summer 35 hours to get my time back regardless what doesnt get delivered that will go back ,remember they OWE you 30 HOURS .

I’m thinking we will not be getting any time back from RM. Basically we have just been working unpaid overtime for them.

It's unworkable... there are busy peaks in so called quieter periods... for example the week following any bank holiday is busy esp. The Easter week yet seasonal variation will be reduced at this time. There's also other religious events in the calendar at other times of the year which increase the volumes that go through the network.

That's probably true, sadly.

They will 'review' it, conclude that it needs refining, and come up with something that makes our working lives worse.

The purpose of Seasonal Variation, no matter how unsuccessful in its initial form, was to get their foot in the door to the acceptability of altering hours. It also helps that SV is not solving the problems it was supposed to solve because that just creates a rationale for going even further - bigger and more frequent variations, until it's basically Zero Hours.

Week 1 is first week of the financial year I think.

Though this has gifted them sweet FA in my opinion so I can see them binning it and paying us off with the money set aside for the totally unachievable Christmas bonus/targets.

But working 2 free hours per week over 15 weeks = 30 hours and that would equate to around £400


There seems to be many issues around RM's Quality of Service Bonus Incentive Scheme. The CWU have concerns regarding it and if the business is prepared to give us a bonus for hitting these targets now, what do we get for hitting these targets in any given period next year? If some offices that haven't had revisions are getting some of the bonus, how is that fair to the offices that have been completely screwed by unachievable revisions? There will be some offices that may get diddly squat through no fault of their own workers. That doesn't seem fair to me.

So could the seasonal variations thing be scrapped (its not really made a massive difference) and we get given this "bonus" money but still end up having to work 37 hours during the summer period when we are supposed to be "owed" the hours back??

My biggest complaint about these extra two hours worked is that it doesn’t help us posties in the busy winter period

Ie we all work extra two hours so that we can get out earlier to give us a chance of completing the walk in busier periods.
But all our managers have done it’s cut the early staff and used these earlier starts to offset this and save money. So ultimately we get out at the normal time and can’t complete on a busy day.

We aren't doing SV in any form, we are on standard hours and will be next summer, fine by us.
COM announces the start of the bonus scheme and he expects us to work over by 30mins a day to clear office and therefore achieve the bonus!
WHAT!!!
Its part of the SV agreement apparently.
Oh how we laughed!
Nope! Not gonna happen! Lost the dressing room and lost the plot.

At our DO early OT has been increased but there so much stuff we don't get out any earlier and so as not to fail we leave mail that we don't think we'll deliver in shift time under the fitting,not on top as that's a failure

If this amount of work everyday generates no profit then what is the point. Just shut it down and let us move on without regret. This onslaught is unsustainable.
