Delay to mail is a serious matter and could potentially be unlawful. :chuckle :chuckle Bringing the integrity and honesty of Royal Mail into question. :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle

One of the greatest con tricks by Royal Mail of all time is that they still have a procedure from years ago that says about how serious an offence it is to withhold mail and yet management have allowed these standards to slip due to a deliberate strategy of de-prioritising the letters and failing the mail on a daily basis for the last 3 years.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

They've successfully banned cutting off in our office for several months now. Whatever you take out has to be delivered or you'll be suspended and then sacked. Still putting tracked above all too :chuckle

I think alot of this bullshit continues because there's no record of it. Postie's aren't given a company email for self serving reasons I believe. I don't know if you can message in the app but as access disappears when you leave, it's fcuk all use.

By the time I got really sick of the game, I'd email my manager recording what was said when and by whom. Nice and polite. But factually accurate. Sometimes when the bulling was completely astonishing or I wasn't ready to use it, I'd make my own private notes to use at a later date.

All this bullying is based on a regime of plausible deniability, namely if it's not recorded, it never happened.

I recall one postie a few years ago now, 2017 ish, who was getting the same old same old and one day he turned round to the lino and said, "I've been recording everything you've been saying to me for months you know". They left him totally alone after that.

I know exactly how the original poster feels about the issue. I hope you find a new strategy to get through the day.

Lol I did almost the same thing about 5 years ago to a particularly old school, unpopular lino.

During one of the daily arguments about cutting off, I pointed at the top button of my RM shirt asked him:

What would you do if I had a pinhole camera right here, recording this?

He couldn't be nicer to me, every single day after that, right up until he took VR about 2 years later.

No they haven’t. If they insist on you taking it all out them before you go out u can’t complete, ask for a phone call to let you know what to do with the stuff you don’t have time to deliver. Send a text message to say as per phone call you will be (insert what they told you). Take it back, wheel the York to them and go home.

And has this actually been followed up with such action? There's no national agreement to "take out what you will deliver" the union would be able to get any attempted sacking overturned very easily.

There's no national agreement to "take out what you will deliver"
It has always been the case that unless you inform them otherwise it is assumed you will deliver everything you take out (excluding disasters on delivery such as vehicle breakdowns)
You have never been allowed to just bring stuff back as it doesn't allow them time to put alternative measures in place if possible.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

In theory, maybe. But in practice these days offices are never being cleared, on a daily basis.

If you've done the job properly any sacking for bringing mail back, even if you hadn't informed managers in advance, would be overturned in a heartbeat.

It would take a very brave / stupid manager to try.

Not quite true, if you tell them you won't complete and they still tell you to take it all or more than you can, then it's still fair to being back.

The point being you need to tell them beforehand.
