Re: New extrants on higher hourly overtime rate
Most of our new entrants quit or get sacked within the first month these days....
No idea what's going on, but it seems more recently that it's hard to find people that have basic common sense or who are committed to the job....
Not sure why that is. Could be the new contracts - working sundays, having to work a 40 hour week.... so most of the people who apply are the people really struggling to find work.
On top of that, some are quitting within weeks, probably seeing what an absolute shiz show our office is and once they get put on their own after being trained, they get left on their own round with mountains of mail, have a round which is 30 minutes too long on a light day, but with this amount of mail that's come in recently, they's probably be out 2 hours later than their finish time seeing as they don't know where they are going as they are going out blind.
It's a recipe for a higher quit rate.

Then leave and come back in as agency through man powermattick wrote: ↑15 Sep 2023, 20:42Petty how? if I worked a 70 hour week and a new starter worked a 70 hour week
Adding on 10x £13.14, 23x £12.69 overtime to my basic wages (with delivery supplements) I end up with a gross wage of
£1039
If a new starter works 40x £14.59 + 30x £18.23, they end up with a weekly gross wage of
£1130

Re: New extrants on higher hourly overtime rate
If I'm working with one of these new starters, I'm taking a break ,at least 20 mins before I go out so the new new starter is going to get a break too? How does it work that they dont get paid for the down time when I'm avin a cuppa?TopperGas wrote: ↑15 Sep 2023, 21:14You also have to include the 40 mins per day paid breaks the new starters don't get paid which is approx £36 per week, no idea of the pension position but existing staff may well receive more attractive pension contributions.
I assume there's nothing stopping anybody asking to be transferred to a new style contract??

I guess they’d have to deduct the breaks from their overall hours for the day.pieoftheday wrote: ↑19 Sep 2023, 17:35If I'm working with one of these new starters, I'm taking a break ,at least 20 mins before I go out so the new new starter is going to get a break too? Re: New extrants on higher hourly overtime rate
If it is like a 'normal' job, someone on a new contract is already deducted their break from their daily wage. If they don't stop for a break they are working for free.
I'm turning purple!
