New contracts - £25561 for 35 hours

Hi, I just started my contract over month ago with rate £11,59 per hour. I just noticed that few week later they offer a new contract with rate £12,29. Is there any chance to do something with this because that’s seems a little bit unfair. Thanks

I reckon you'll be on that too, it's a 6% increase so presumably the same as existing staff on the old rates.

Out of interest, what is our (long termers) hourly pay when the average supplements are included?

According to this week's wageslip my new basic full time pay is £495.23 plus delivery supplement which for me is in two parts (no idea why) £17.30 + £11.47 so total £524

We currently have two 7 HR days so average 180mins paid break per week which makes it easy to work out at 3 hours so for £524 I have to do 34 hours work.
£524 ÷ 34 hours = £15.41 per hour.

You are doing well then! I’m on £14.16 per hour.

That's because you're dividing £524 by 37, but just out of interest I'm deducting my paid breaks to get to what I'm actually paid per hour for working.

Of course regardless of whichever way you look at it the important figure the yearly salary is £27248.

The new rate of £12.29. which is roughly £2 less per hour than other staff doing the same job. The CWU said we would not have a two tier work force yet here we are, very unfair on the new starters who often have it harder being reserves and continuously getting moved around to where the mail is stacked up.

You should be on the new rate. Chase up your manager. FFS where is the union.. The £12.29 is the pay rise being implemented. And you should have back pay. £12.29 is the minimum anyone on walks should be on. That's on the new contracts with no delivery supplement, sick pay, monthly pay ect. And they call this ' MODERNISATION ' of the workforce. Even Tesco who made a billion pounds in profit are now making their staff pay for their uniforms, stopped night allowance and changed long serving staff's contracts. SOMETHING NEEDS TO GIVE. IT'S ATTACK, ATTACK ON WORKING PEOPLE'S JOBS AND CONDITIONS AT EVERY TURN. EVERYBODY OUT AND I MEAN EVERYONE.

I checked my payslip and looks like I have 11,59 plus overtimes over £14 per hour. There is one column with I don’t really understand. Arrears of Basic pay £48. They added this amount to my wage

The arrears of basic pay is because the payrise was back dated so it's an additional 6% of whatever you've already been paid at the old rate that you started on, your next month's wage hopefully should be clearer as it'll be based on the new current rate.

rough calculations based on a new contract of £12.29 vs an old contract of £14.18

The wages are roughly the same if you 70 hours a week but the old guy got paid for his/her/they breaks.

When the dispute was ongoing I thought I saw new starters on fulltime were 40hrs a week and less money than current 37hr employees, or am I making it up?
