New contracts - £25561 for 35 hours

Post by Paul1983 »

Saw a new contract today, Salary was £25561 for a 35 hour week. Overtime at time and a quarter past 40 hours. No paid breaks but a higher hourly rate!

I think its good that the pay is on par with legacy contracts, but as someone who does a lot of overtime I Think past about 50 hours I would be better of on a new contract.

Also now SISO is being enforced I find the 35 hour contact more appealing for the fact that after a 7 hour shift you would be on overtime where on a old one its 7 hours 24 mins before it kicks in.

Anyone else seen these, is the union likely to push for 1.25% OT across the board over 40 hours? Otherwise It seems a bit unfair for those on old contracts who do a lot of overtime.

I thought the new contract rate of pay was lower than "legacy" rates, just checked on the RM jobs site and it looks like they've upped the rate from £11.59 to £12.29 so £12.29 x 35 = £430.15 x 52 = £22367.80 pa
Do new starts get delivery supplement ?

It does not seem to be! Saw a new starters contract and it was over 25k for a 35 hour week. We have a few new starters and another confirmed. No delivery supplement, but overtime over 40 hours is 1.25x base rate.

Out of interest, what is our (long termers) hourly pay when the average supplements are included?

When the dispute was ongoing I thought I saw new starters on fulltime were 40hrs a week and less money than current 37hr employees, or am I making it up?

The contract for new starters is based on 40 hours, not 35, so their annual salary will be £25563.20. The overtime kicks in after 40 hours, at time and a quarter. No delivery supplement, no paid breaks. Lovely. :thumbdown

Ah that explains it, the op is incorrect it's not £25561 for 35 hours, the figure he saw is for 40 so the new starter at the op's office will actually be on £12.29 x 35 x 52 so £22367.80.

As opposed to £12.29 x 40 x 52 = £25563.20

By my calculations colleagues on the old contract get £27,256 for 37 hours a week and paid breaks.
Or £29,479 for 40 hours.

According to this week's wageslip my new basic full time pay is £495.23 plus delivery supplement which for me is in two parts (no idea why) £17.30 + £11.47 so total £524

We currently have two 7 HR days so average 180mins paid break per week which makes it easy to work out at 3 hours so for £524 I have to do 34 hours work.
£524 ÷ 34 hours = £15.41 per hour.

It’s around that yes, I had it £13 per annum less . Even so, far better than the new contracts.

You are doing well then! I’m on £14.16 per hour.

Hi, I just started my contract over month ago with rate £11,59 per hour. I just noticed that few week later they offer a new contract with rate £12,29. Is there any chance to do something with this because that’s seems a little bit unfair. Thanks

That's because you're dividing £524 by 37, but just out of interest I'm deducting my paid breaks to get to what I'm actually paid per hour for working.

Of course regardless of whichever way you look at it the important figure the yearly salary is £27248.
