I assume there's probably a specific date you've got to be in the job, to qualify.

Although the payment is not part of the agreement the release of the money was subject to the ratification of the agreement.

The obvious take from that is that Royal Mail would likely have used it to deal with the consequences of a rejection had that been the case.

It maybe would have depended on what Unite/CMA did, there was some serious drum banging from them about it being paid even in the event of a no vote.

That would probably involve a bung to management to break strikes and force through revisions, delivery method changes and later starts.

Managers would have had a slice of this cash whether we voted yes or no.
