I can't see any point in staying in the union. They certainly have done nothing for delivery staff except sell us down the river. I will rejoin when we have a union that recognises the fact that in every deal we have ever had it's the delivery end that is always worse off.

I'm keeping my powder dry for the time being but aside from the 'localised insurance policy' aspect I'm having to dig deep to find reasons to stay in the CWU (almost 30 years in). Should I decide to opt out it will be not so much that I've left the Union, rather that the Union has left me, the coming weeks will determine my decision...
You do the work, they get the loot. The men with the smiles and the 3 piece suits.

The members ARE the union. You're leaving yourselves. Dave Ward et al are ELECTED by members. Change the guard don't demolobalise the army.

Reality is the letter industry is rapidly coming to an end, parcel industry is booming. The company will be rapidly slimming down over the next few years. If compulsory redundancy does appear again, guess who will be their prime targets

And over them 30 years the cwu have won plenty,at some point every union will be defeated why do people demand they should win indefinitely its not realistic.Grinder64 wrote: ↑12 Jul 2023, 18:52I'm keeping my powder dry for the time being but aside from the 'localised insurance policy' aspect I'm having to dig deep to find reasons to stay in the CWU (almost 30 years in). Left yesterday.
£16m is the value of Royal Mail to the CWU. Sure they can cope without my £3.56 a week. Dave only on £140,000.

After caving in to RM in order to protect subs check off, the union have made it impossible to negotiate effectively for some time to come. They certainly can't call for industrial action in the next few years. You will have to accept whatever pay and terms that RM think that you are worth, so you need to decide whether your subs represent value for money going forward.

Sorry but this job is done absolutely no future, this deal is so bad it’s destroyed any future deals.
I’ve left the union and will leave job after Christmas I’ve got 20 more working years to go and RM is not a job for life anymore.

We have the job, and the conditions, we have today, because the union isn't much kop.
I'm out. I can't keep paying them for this shitfest. Enough, is enough, now.

What use is trade union representation in the workplace?
Even now, executive action continues with no local consultation?
Why would anybody want to be a new rep after this agreement threw existing reps to the wolves with no support?
Seems the Strawbs belong very much in the era of the 1970s.

Re: No voters please do not leave the union!
I emailed them on Wednesday morning to say I wanted to leave and it had been sorted by late Wednesday, no complaints.
Came in Thursday, 'oh somebody (name I've never heard of) from the union wants to speak to you. The time's I've needed them it's taken a week to get a reply, yet hold £3.56 back and they send people out looking for you, wasn't even from our office.
I hope thousands have left because they won't becoming back until Dave Thompson and his turncoat mates have done one, obviously with a lovely pension from the £140k a year. No complaining from the YES voters in the future, deal of the century.
PS:- don't be silly and get any serious illnesses, cause you won't be paid x

Re: No voters please do not leave the union!
I reckon that thousands will have either left the union over the last couple of weeks or are about to leave the union, probably mainly in deliveries who have been well and truly sold down the river. The CWU may as well just merge into RM
