RMCtv: Working together to improve quality - National Quality Village Halls

Post by POSTMAN »

Why quality is so important to everybody.

Our senior leaders are hosting National Quality Village Halls with managers across the UK to help improve quality and grow the business.

Led by Grant McPherson, the Village Halls started last week and will continue until each region or functional area has held one.

Watch this film to understand more about the purpose of these events and hear from Grant, Ricky McAulay, Nick Landon, Jenny Hall (Miss Unfortunately) - plus managers and attendees in the South East region Babatunde Adefila and Chris Millen.

Grant:So here, we're in London. This is our fifth national Quality Village hall. We're talking to all of our people from across the UK in all of our regions about why quality is so important to everybody and to our customers. We've got people from Unite and CMA, we've also got representatives from the CWU all listening to the same message. It's a great event. We're talking about quality, we're talking about the finances, we're talking about how we take care of our people and we're getting great questions as well. Some really good, tough questions and hopefully we're giving you some great answers as well.

Manager:
That's fantastic. Is be able to speak to the, uh, leadership team, understand the strategy, looking forward under trying get, get quality back to provide a service for our customer. It's very, very important.

Ricky: We're working through a really, really difficult year, a lot of industrial action, which hasn't been great for anybody, for Royal Mail to survive into the future. We need to improve quality. We can improve quality, we will grow the business, and the events are framed around that. Importantly, it's also about resetting relationships. So we've been really clear with managers that we want to change a business together with the CWU, and stressing the importance of transforming at pace.

Distribution Manager:We've Got a lot of work to do to restore quality. We've historically had good quality, but at the last couple of years it's drifted away. Our competition has sort of leapt in front or is catching us up very quickly and we've just gotta get back to basics and we're restore that customer promise.

Grant:Revenue coming in is the lifeblood. If we don't get the revenue in, we can't invest in changing the business. We can't grow. So getting revenue in is super important. Talking to the people at the nose of the business, the people who are talking to our customers every day, who are delivering the quality we need to grow. Really important opportunity. For me, it's the best investment of my time.

Miss Unfortunately:We've Got some brilliant leaders here and they want to make sure that role now gets back to winning again. They want to make sure that parcel force gets back to winning again. That's exactly why we are here. And so I think that there's a huge amount of enthusiasm for making sure that we can get over what has been a difficult Facebook company and we can move to the future.

Grant:Yes, we've got some headwinds, but if we focus and we've already shown because we've seen our quality results improve over the last few weeks, we're in the zone. We're in the target, and that gives customers confidence to give us more business. That's why we're doing this road show.

Endless talking but very little doing. We could harness all that hot air if it weren't already blazing out on delivery.
The machine stops.

Why is he talking to managers is that's what he wants to be doing? When to most of them ever talk with customers, apart from to slag off their own staff when a juicy complaint crops up- which is also the only time they bother to communicate with their staff too
This misplaced faith and trust in the quality of their managers is beyond delusional at this point.

And the CWU representatives? They're just as bad as politicians, get themselves elected on promises, then spend the majority of their efforts on their own agenda, only paying lip service to the members interests.

The only people in this company who deliver, literally and figuratively, and who know their customers, are the posties on the floor and on the streets day after day. And yet no-one talks with us, AT us yes, but never WITH us

Here's the thing.

They don't know what they are talking about.

5 years they've been at it. That, says it all!

Wow, just wow!
They won’t allow Managers to employ people to cover people that have left the business, don’t allow them to reverse the revisions that have caused the collapse of delivery targets so at great expense bring them all in for meetings to tell them what great jobs they are doing!
Half the old time Managers I know are pulling their hair out in frustration at what’s occurring.
Have no idea of what they are doing, but sure you don’t grow a company like this.

"Working to improve quality"? That's complete and utter bullshit. If they want to improve quality, they can start by employing more staff in DOs and sorting out the completely f****d up revisions in DOs
