I guess the union will now claim victory, that he will go.
Well timed to encourage the gullible that RMG will now be a better more trustworthy company and so you nice little people should all vote yes!
Everything about this dispute was engineered, he has done his job impeccably.
He's got most of what the people above him wanted. He was a pawn, just like us.
The board will try to convince us it's in the best interest of Royal Mail because of the unrest he's caused.
Why call people who will vote yes? If they've read the document and believe that is the best way to vote, then you must be the fool according to them?

The RM board can say it has listened to the voice of its workers, and it has responded to the criticisms of the select committee, so from their point of view they will be hoping it takes the heat out of the situation. The deal goes through and the select committee and Ofcom forget all about the USO, Simon gets the pay-off he's earned as the front man and fall-guy, unless his masters think he really was incompetent all along, and everyone's a winner. Except for the RM workers who can expect nothing else but the next regime to come after them even more voraciously than the last, after they've scraped together whatever shreds of dignity and self-respect they've managed to salvage from this debacle.

I don’t think it’s going to go down too well with an already p!ssed off membership. Remember when Rico left, and the videos inside delivery offices of cheering posties. Then along came Thompson who played the nice guy for a few months, before the nastiness began once again.

Surely, We won’t be fooled again?

😞 Of course we won't.
And all those Posties that suck up to their new gaffers have finally realised that they are not your mate.😞

OH dear do I really have to explain the obvious, If you actually read it.
I said anyone who might believe that the company would be more trustworthy after Simon Thompson has gone, would be gullible. And that the Union would claim victory and might therefore use Simon`s leaving to add to the reasons why people should vote yes. Does that clarify it for you? You seem to have read your own insecurity about voting Yes (which I assume you plan on doing) into something that was not in the least aimed at anyone voting yes.
In fact I take the opposite view from that which you accuse me, about anyone that wants to vote yes, That is to say I totally respect anyone who reads the agreement and decides that it is in their interests to vote yes. Just as equally I would expect the respect for the conclusions I come to after reading the same document. My post was a dig at the Union tactic of "spin" to get a yes vote.
Also just for information, anyone can be gullible at different times, for various reasons , but that does not make them a fool.

I take a different view on this, with Thompsons departure likely to be announced before any vote on a deal commences, I can see more people opting to vote NO.
We all know Thompson is dangerous, if he's gone is it worth chancing your arm with a new regime?

Until the whole senior management team and execs including Williams, McAuley, Brown, Macpherson and Jevons to name but 5 go, the same core of undesirables will re group behind another union busting CEO and continue their “work”. For me the only hope is for RM to return to a service and not a cash cow for Govt or shareholders to feast on.

He shouldn't be allowed to stand down, he should be sacked.
And arrested.
