Exactly. As with all the Tracked, the time will come from leaving letters in the frame. Ofcom aren't reacting so the company will become more brazen in its disregard for its legal obligation.

Re: RMCtv : Auto-redelivery : FAQ's, SOP's and Videos
We don’t have time to be messing about constantly. Barriers need to be removed for efficiency on delivery, not continually added…
Scanning has become far more of a ballache than it ever used to be.
Scan2core > scan parcel > deliver to customer > submit > take photo > confirm > submit to customer….
That’s just on a standard tracked; the process is even more laborious on signature items and specials.
It doesn’t sound like a lot, it adds up though, those multiples extra steps every single day x100; x6 days a week… it adds up to a lot of time.
it used to be 1 scan & 1 button press. Scan the item, confirm the delivery.
The reason seems to be because: “well DPD do it”…
Upper echelons of Royal Mail seem to not understand that our operation is different to DPD’s.
Plus they have zero ingenuity, just copy the competition and hope for the best.

Re: RMCtv : Auto-redelivery : FAQ's, SOP's and Videos
There is a part of the design process that refers to memory. Here we are expecting customers to actually read the red bit of paper they have been getting for years. Unfortunately, there will be a lot of customers working on memorised behaviour and will just turn up at the callers office as usual.
These customers aren't stupid, they have been conditioned.
I had a woman chase me down the street with a 'fee to pay card' claiming I hadn't knocked (I hadn't) and asking for her parcel I was taking away (I wasn't).

You sure about that? Your next paragraph makes that particular customer sound pretty stupid to me.

Customers aren't stupid because they turn up at the callers office by mistake. That is a design issue. That said some customers are most definitely stupid.
The particular customer was arrogant and ignorant. She assumed, regardless of colour, a post office marked card meant I was running off with her parcel. So I do feel for those mistaking what to do with the upcoming red cards.
I'm turning purple!

I'm assuming that this automatic redelivery will result in less staff required in the CSP? So what will happen to them? IHR on the reduced terms as per the new agreement?

Re: RMCtv : Auto-redelivery : FAQ's, SOP's and Videos
Haven't watched the video/read the documents - will leave that for WTLL - LOL! but do they explain what happens
subsequently happens to day 2's parcel (B) taken out on it's first attempt with the re-delivery attempt
of day 1's parcel (A) when the customer is still not in?
Redelivery attempt of B on day 3 when A is now left back at the CSP or SPDO PO awaiting recipient instructions?
Customer is home on day 3 and says 'Where's my f***in parcel A, why didn't you bring that too, that's what it says on the card!'
Or do we use our common sense and take A out for a third day?
What if A's already been handed to the CSP/you're a cover? You won't know about parcel A on day 3 only B left on the frame.
Or customer comes to CSP/SPDO on day 3 to pick up parcel A expecting they can grab B too but no instructions received
for B and parcel B has already gone out for re-delivery and they're obviously not in, so B comes back?!!
I suppose in both cases RM are relying on the receiving customer understanding the process/card wording
and promptly notifying RM what they want to happen with the parcels when they receive the 739 but we know
that's not going to happen because it's stuck in the letterbox/the dog ate it/partner put it somewhere/they chucked
it out with the D2D's/couldn't scan the QR code/couldn't navigate RM's website!
Cue aggravated customers and harassed posties!
And what about the HCT/LWT loop postie who was able to take parcels A, A1 and A2 out on day 1, but now can't fit re-deliveries
of A and A1 in because they've now got day 2's (first attempt) parcels to take out and their troley is full! - Busy driver!

I've got a degree (in economics, maths physics and bionics) so I'm not completely thick, and I can follow the gist of this, but I haven't got a clue what all this mismatched customer address stuff and re-delivery instructions for the manifest on day 2 (on video 2) is all about
.
Can someone explain it in simple terms what they're trying to say. Please

Same here Kevin, it started off as quite a simple concept but just like everything else they overcomplicated it.ArthurPewty wrote: ↑24 Apr 2023, 17:33I've got a degree (in economics, maths physics and bionics) so I'm not completely thick, and I can follow the gist of this, but I haven't got a clue what all this mismatched customer address stuff and re-delivery instructions for the manifest on day 2 (on video 2) is all about.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You would better not leaving a card at all on the first attempt.

If we currently run out of 739 cards all the time. How does potentially using two 739 cards per parcel going to help matters? And what happens when the PDA dies on your halfway through a delivery? Complete Madness!

We literally have boxes of 1000's of current 739's - what a waste, they're going to get binned as they don't conform with
the procedure - saying that though we haven't seen any new ones for the start of this farce next week.
