You can't shut people down for saying "cheap immigrant labour"and say its racist the two things are not the same...cheap immigrant labour is cheap immigrant labour...not I hate that race.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 07:37Your "point" is factually incorrect.
Your agenda was laid bare for all to see when you called it cheap immigrant labour.
If you are going to be racist at least admit to being a racist and not try to hide it behind some pseudo economic mumbo jumbo that only you can understand.

Re: Royal Mail workers say 'escalating strikes is our only leverage'
You will be pleased to learn Clashcityrocker that the World is becoming a little fairer as the BRICS nations led by China and Russia have worked out that they have been exchanging valuable commodities and their labour for worthless Western currency and Western Government Bonds, things are changing rapidly.
The BRICS countries have massive amounts of resources and labour to draw upon whilst the West produces very little apart from debased currency and debt.
So Clashcityrocker be careful what you wish for because a fairer world means your standard of living is going to drop dramatically in the coming years.

The national living wage or the minimum wage? Doesn’t change the fact that our pay has stagnated while supermarkets have put into place wage increases multiple times in the last year.milly wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 06:57So despite receiving "multiple pay rises" Supermarket workers are still only receiving 80p per hour over the National Living Wage.LouBarlow wrote: ↑12 Apr 2023, 21:19Well it’s not much less than we get. What oversupply of cheap immigrant labour is driving down wages?
We could happily take another 1 million immigrants and the job market still wouldn't be full.
There was only one person playing the racist card silly Milly.
Tens of thousands of 16 hour contracts aren't much use to anyone who wants to buy a House or start a family.
And if Companies are so desperate for staff why aren't Wages increasing?
That's an incredible wage!![]()
It is very disingenuous of you to try and spin it that supermarkets have increased wages to attract more workers when the fact is, despite their terrible wages increasing they are still on terrible wages.
My point stands that there is an oversupply of labour so employers can get away with keeping wages low.
It's quite amazing that people on here can't grasp the economic reality of supply and demand.
They aren’t doing it from the good of their heart - they are trying to attract workers. Doesn’t seem that you grasp the concept either.

Ocado pay up to £15.20 per hour on certain shift. Tesco is over £12 an hour now too.
I seeing courier companies offering more money than Royal Mail some are even offering signing on bonuses.

If you think paying an extra 80p per hour over the NLW is going to attract people to work in Supermarkets then you must think Royal Mail's offer is an absolute belter!LouBarlow wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 15:19The national living wage or the minimum wage? Here https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/a ... r-29703684 lOOK £13.54 an hour stacking shelves! While I don't think we should stop immigrants to this country we did not half shoot ourselves in the foot this respect of freedom of movement and people who had skills like working and not being involved in things which certain people of the EU were not involved in!

I’ll try and explain it to you one last time - using supermarkets, as an example - there is a limited pool of workers out there. People willing to work such a job. It is a finite number of people. All supermarkets are short on staff. If someone looking for a job at a supermarket, sees that Tesco are offering 80p an hour more over Asda, where do you think is preferable for that job seeker to work?
I’m not suggesting that an 80p an hour wage increase, is going to make someone think ‘well, I was going to train to be a brain surgeon, but now Tesco have bunged up their wages, f**k it I’ll go and work there’.

Cheap labour is cheap labour.
Cheap immigrant labour with absolutely nothing to back that up is racist.
She doesn't like foreigners.
Defend the racist if you want. But Milly is a crackpot conspiracy theory racist.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Give it up Lou. You're arguing with a racist lump of clueless. Might as well try to explain quantum physics to a snail. Completely pointless.

Immigration just means anyone who is traveling into the country illegally or not illegally it doesn't matter what colour or nationality, your just triggered by the actual word.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 18:48Cheap labour is cheap labour.

Re: Royal Mail workers say 'escalating strikes is our only leverage'
Immigration doesn't mean anyone who is travelling into the country. Going on holiday is travelling into the country.
Going on holiday isn't immigration.
You are right. I was triggered by the word. Why did Silly Milly use it?
Because she doesn't like immigrants regardless of their provenance or reasons.
She is a racist.
My dad was an immigrant.
As the son of an immigrant I have met enough Millys to last me a lifetime.
They are racists.

You know we aren't talking about holidays but fair do's some immigrants are better workers/citizens than some of the bone idle population of this country but to just pull the race card isn't constructive you sort of lose the argument thats just how I see it anyhow.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑13 Apr 2023, 20:04Immigration doesn't mean anyone who is travelling into the country.
