The reason they are putting it back later is so they can change box times collections from firms and then get rid of all SA and day collections thereby putting more work onto delivery staff but to do it in less time we aint daft and we ain't doing it stick your deal where the sun don't shine

What about the walks which go overtime to complete each day even in the summer time?

Then they work to time and enjoy finishing earlier. Simple.

We're paid hourly though. So how's that gonna work? Paid less in summer?

Revisions put in a month ago and most walks are failing on a daily basis. So we are in April and mail is alot busier than it was in Jan & Feb.

Not sure what Ricky is on about that the mail drops in the spring and summer then picks back up in autumn and winter. I thought mail fluctuates throughout the year and it all depends on what other businesses want to post (advertise). Yes mail probably does drop from june for several weeks, but by the end of August mail climbs back up.

His working model is flawed, and won't work unless you work overtime. 24 minutes doesn't seem a lot but if you multiply it an a office of a hundred folk its a lot of overtime that could be saved in the xmas period, that's the only reason why they want to implement it.

So how does this work if you dont have a regular duty? You could do various deliveries over the so called light periods in summer but never get done early and then in the busier periods you will be asked/made to work longer for no extra pay? This could of course happen to those on a regular duty, we'll all have to start a daily diary

What a tool with the new revision we are leaving 2 hrs walking behind in the office now,these bosses have no idea how to run a delivery company ,everything they touch turns to s**t,the flexi time will be a disaster too.

The way I understood it, flex has gone, it’s now seasonal variation, you’ll work 35 hours over the summer and 39 over the winter. It works out at 24 minutes a day and Royal Mail are saying that the 24 minutes will be added/removed from the beginning of the day, for the first year then looked at later on to see if it’s working. So it’s sort of like longs and shorts now but over the year rather than the week. So it still looks like you’ll have a start time and a finish time.

If our office is like others the forecasting of mail volumes would be better done by Stevie wonder and ray Charles coz its shockingly bad never ever near where it says..Typical day in ours you have 4 sequenced 3 manual to box in...but you've given me 6 minutes to duty 20 and 4 minutes for duty 22 they have bulk posting 2 trays each,......oh have they do what you can same old crap part timer comes in were way behind arguments start part timer I'm cutting off!!! Everyday the same.

It happens now at ours, Saturday 1 hour less than Friday but with similar mail and packet volumes. And they want you take lapsing as well.

To be honest, in theory, this doesn't sound too bad.

Annualised hours in its earlier conception were easily one of my biggest concerns. I'd absolutely not trust them to bank hours.

If it is a clear 6 month split then you don't have to worry about them making a mess of who owes what.

Just work 24 minutes more in winter and 24 minutes less in summer. Though it is worth noting that it'll be a difference of 48 minutes in the actual time you finish.

As someone who has been working to time and could easily go over with lapse, I'll be cutting off in summer and winter most of the time, but that's their problem.

Now when we start to add a bit more reality to it the cracks start to show.

Actual finish time - I'd expect in summer you'd originally start 24 minutes later, but when winter comes around you'll start at the same time and end up being out 48 minutes later. Add to this later start times then there will be some very dark finishes around the country.

PT's - Will the extra minutes in winter be split between indoor and outdoor? If it's just outdoor then what about PTers. The will work more in winter but no less in summer (the ones that actually work PT shifts). Those working as reserves who knows how this would actually work.

Holidays - Do you get screwed for having holidays in summer?

Commitment to complete - If this happens everything else here is redundant.

I don’t think Royal Mail are bothered about us completing or quality of service they just want to reduce costs and make more profit.

The USO hasn’t been properly regulated for years and if it means Royal Mail are loss making then it will probably be reduced in the near future.

I would imagine with leave it would still off a 37 hour working week to keep it simple as with how we get paid.
