Seniority

Morning all,
Just need clarification on my situation


Joined one DO as part time, after 14 months, transferred to a different DO as part time.

When it comes to be made full time, I understand that this is allocated on seniority.

Am I right saying that seniority will be based on date of joining RM as opposed the DO where I transferred to?

If that is the case, where can I find an official document suporting this?

My DOM is adamant that it is based on date of joining the DO where I transfered. Seem totally unfair

Yes from date you started I've worked in 3 places all combined 28 years so I jumped ahead of loads in my current office.That always goes down well..

All service including permanent and temporary since joining the business counts
for seniority purposes, whether full or part-time, with the exception of:
• Periods worked on a lower grade than the current one
• Periods worked on a casual contract
• Periods of career breaks
• Periods before a break of contract.

Seniority is based on the EXACT DATE you are employed by RM
No matter where you work or are moved to - simple as that
DO manager is trying it on

Seniority is based on your start date. If a question of seniority comes down to 2 or more individuals who have the same start date then seniority is based on interview date (this is rare but I've seen it happen)

WFA para 13.9

Where several employees start on the same day, the following factors will determine the relative order: firstly, any periods of Post Office service on other grades, secondly, date of selection and, thirdly, date of birth.

Don't know how anyone would find out their 'date of selection' (whatever it means) from 30 years ago but yep it ultimately
goes to DOB - if it's still allowed - age discrimination and all that......
