RMCtv : This is how you should be delivering parcels!

Post by POSTMAN »

Royal Mail ‘feet on the street’ – Royal Mail wins free advertising on Sky, airing today!

In August, we announced that Royal Mail’s advert to promote our unique environmental credentials and feet-on-the-street business model had successfully been shortlisted for the Sky Zero Footprint Fund.

The prize secures us £250,000 of free Sky advertising after we progressed to the final alongside four other companies; Ecosia, Homethings, Serious Tissues and WUKA.

The advert, an inspiring and humorous dramatisation of our Steps to Zero journey, shows why Royal Mail’s carbon footprint is lighter than the rest, and features @Tochino Cornwell, one of our very own posties from Manchester South Delivery Office.

You can see the advert on Sky channels and Sky Video on Demand between 27 February and 27 March.

Our advert leans into one of the core strengths of our Steps to Zero environmental strategy – our unique ‘feet-on-the-street’ business model, and our ambitious plan to reduce our average emissions per parcel from 205gCO2e today to 50gCO2e, on our way to Net Zero by 2040.

Thank you to the marketing and Environment, Social and Governance teams for all their work to develop the concept and securing this free advertising opportunity for Royal Mail.

Hope you enjoy getting the first look and let us know if you spot us on Sky!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Does it show them travelling to / from their delivery points in a battered, badly maintained 15 year old van belching plenty of emissions :whistle :whistle

Usual twisting on the truth… we’ve been doing this for years, 90% of our vans are diesel and we are definitely no that happy!

For Royal Mail to be somehow boasting about a good carbon footprint . . . SHUT UP!!! Must be one of the worst carbon emitters in the UK, and the state of the stuff coming out the back of some of the vans is shocking!!

We must surely have the oldest and so dirtiest fleets in the delivery business? Even s/e Amazon/EVRI drivers using their own cars tend to have newer ones! I can't understand why DO's which show no signs of going down the electric route anytime soon can't have the odd new, or even newish, ICE van, most of our Doblo's are now pushing 100K & more miles.

Two thirds of our parcels are delivered on foot, is that really the case as we seem to deliver a massive amount using vans? Surely we're not counting something which fits though a letterbox as a parcel?

What about the three separate LAT vans I've seen in my neighbourhood on a Sunday?

Finding out what exactly RM bean counters count as being a parcel and at what point they think a letter becomes a packet, would go a long way to making sense of their predictions for parcel volumes.

Perhaps anything Tracked, letters and all, are counted as parcels?
