10% would be a result. In truth it’s the destruction of the job , e.g. later starting times that concerns me.
Some of our SPDO's already start and finish at the times daveyjeff is quoting!

Re the pay rise, whatever it turns out to be can't see it being backdated either, any 'agreement' that's
been 'agreed' recently has been from the date of the signing of the 'agreement' hasn't it?

They've offered backdated pay rises to cleaners etc... who are about to vote to accept it or not.

Good spot Norris, hadn't seen that! However, me being cynical and backdating pay for 1400 staff is a lot
smaller than doing it for 120,000......can't see RM doing it (when it happens - ever the optimist!).

In case anyone else hadn't seen it:
Under the agreement, pay rates for PFSL’s engineers increase by 7 per cent – backdated to 1st October 2022 – and then a further 4 per cent from 1st April 2023, while admin workers will see their pay rise by 5 per cent – backdated to 1st April 2022 – and another 3 per cent effective from 1st April 2023, plus a one-off £250(pro rata for part-time employees) cash pay-out.

The agreement includes bringing forward the Real Living Wage Foundation (RLWF) rates with effect from 1st February 2023 – two months earlier – and raising hourly rates from £9.90 to £10.90 – a 10.1 per cent increase – outside of London and from £11.05 to £11.95 within London. There are also non-consolidated ‘bridge’ payments over the period of the pay deal, which will apply to London staff. The reason for the lump-sum bridge payments is to recognise and compensate those members who either did not get an increase or who do not receive the same level of increase as other cleaners from April 2023.

As outlined above, the pay differential for relief cleaners is re-introduced, raising their hourly rates to £10.75 (national) and £11.90 (London) and backdated to 1st April 2022. An incentive scheme also provides the opportunity for an extra pay-out worth 2 per cent of base pay.

To daveyeff, what were your starting times before ?
Mon 6.50-14.50 Tues 6.30-14.30 Wed 6.20-15.00 Thurs 6.20-15.00 Fri 6.45-15.00 Sat 6.15-14.00.
Have they changed your attendance patterns as well? These times don't add up to a normal 37 hour week.
we are on 9 day fortnights. over a month it will average out at 37 hours per week. one week you work 5 days, the next week 4 days and so on.
Ah OK. The new times you listed do add up to a 5 day week of 37 hours, so I hope they aren't gunning for your 9 day fortnight on top of the stupid later starts!

What about the 1pm specials?.
Do them first if you have to. Let's face it, nobody is finished before one now, so at some point you have to cut off and take them now don't you. Another waste of time, granted, but not a problem is it.
Erm.. what about the 9am specials? :d'oh!
Well nobody could ever do those on part of their delivery for years, they've been done in our office by locker staff usually while everyone else still sorting.

This isn't the fault of the CWU because it's 100% down to Simon Thompson and the board . The realignment in my MC is being forced through by EA. I know some people with over 30 years service who have been left without a job . It's an absolute bloody disgrace what's happening . All my colleagues are now all up for the next strike . Virtually everybody in my MC are now furious and are ready to go toe to toe with the company . So many people I know have now silently quit and ultimately this company is going down the toilet thanks to incompetent management .

Not entirely RM fault.

The Unions natural instinct “to go to disagreement” when there’s a Unit revision has quite simply ruffled a few very powerful people/investors.

These people come from a world where if they want something done ITS DONE.
Union or no Union.

Royal Mail has fundamentally changed since 2013.

Everyone needs to wake up to that fact.

Of course i want strike dates but feel let down so badly by the CWU hesitation, the only way out now is massive strikes but doubt they have the backbone to call it,what they must realise now its s**t or bust,if they dont act now and big they are finished .

Any 'agreement' now for a lot of people will have come too late as I can't see them rolling back the sweeping changes that have been made in many units.
Re-instate those suspended.
Settle the claims for money owed to staff for sick pay etc.
Reverse revisions that have been implemented via executive action.

Like I say, too late for many staff in my view who have been put in a position where it's 'look for a new job' time.

There are at least 4 hours left of Wednesday.
Let's not be too hasty.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
