The strikes should have been called as soon as the ballot result came out ,the CWU's hesitancy and trying to please everyone has let this happen,if people don't want the change then an all out strike or at the least 3 days every week is the only way,if they don't want to lose money then i'm afraid its get another job or stop moaning,sometimes we are our own worst enemies.

they are in ''extensive'' talks for the next 3 weeks starting from today, but we have been informed the executive action is also being pulled from today. if its NOT, then all we have is the rule 13 we are awaiting clearance for.

I have seen agency staff pick things up in 2 weeks especially with park and loop partnership. I work with an agency staff that is miles better than most. He is also prepping these days!

You mean the agency staff whose parcels I kept finding on people's steps or doorways? The agency staff that just "No Access" half the packets and bring them back? The agency staff that missort packets to me on the IPS that I have to go put to the right division?

Nothing against agency staff as it's not their fault. RM tend to use them as canon fodder. Many of them obviously worked hours past finish time at Xmas, so that was more money thrown down the drain imho

I think a lot of this change is to force people out of the door.

It stands to reason when new entrants are on 20% less pay, RM will use any tactic they can to get the old brigade out and save money in the process.

A sad state of affairs really, but the union have been weak for too long, the last strike was over two months ago now, anybody outside would think the dispute is over.

What were the normal start and finish times before on deliveries?

That's not the point (from RM's POV). RM have got a mega bucks contract from (insert name of large company here)
who insist on next day delivery being available. In order for RM to be able to offer that, starting times have to be
pushed back. Whether someone is in or not is irrelevant to RM hierarchy, they've got the megabucks contract
and the shareholders are happy!

They don't care whether the kids have to be put in childcare for that extra
hour/hour and half after school or whether we get stuck in rush hour traffic
doing the last bit of delivery or trying to get home. After all if no one's in
at 3pm we can try again at the same time the next day (according to RM's latest
brain wave) when of course the same people WON'T BE IN!

What's the point of the late starts?

Fewer night shifts in Mail Centres.
Trains instead of planes.
More work on hand in DOs rather than standing around waiting for the next lorry.
No more LAT duties?
