I believe the idea is that once scanned they will appear on each each pda appropriately. so if walker is walk 1, and the prepper scans all the walkers items to walk 1, they will only show on the Walkers PDA. Walk 2 (driver) and their loops should be done as "walk 2" (even though it's half of each).
In practice, it's a complete pain in the arse and the "automatic" summoning of additional scans for an address is a hassle. I get out, scan an oversized for number 4 anystreet and it brings up 3 other packets I don't have, as they're in the walkers bag... I can't delete them as I don't have them to "scan off" or however you'd describe scan-to-delete. Walker has the same issue, 3 in the bag, 1 washing machine in the van and they can't delete what they don't have (And if they could, f**k all idea which is what since barcodes are a hassle to read for a human).
whole system is a bag of s**t. Working 100% as intended, I think it'd be.... Okay, at best.
Not the issue here, but why wouldn't you take the parcels out of the bag and deliver them all together? You're knocking the same door twice, and the walker is carrying three parcels (extra weight) for no reason.
Obviously we avoid doing that where possible, but we're not going to notice or remember all the repeat address visits, plus the fact that small packets and letters are often in the mail and forgotten about.
This sounds like scanning to RoN rather than scanning to indoor>core route.
Scanning to indoor doesn’t bring up any other parcels when you scan on the doorstep other than the one you are scanning.
Which are you doing?
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

No, it definitely does, it brings up multiple tracked that are address confirmed by the PDA on Indoor > Scan to core route.
If there's one tracked and you have to manually confirm the address on scan to route and one tracked that is address confirmed
by the PDA automatically then it won't bring both up with one scan at the doorstep - you have to scan them both individually
at the doorstep.
My partner and I have scanned them on any pda for the last 2 weeks. Nobody's said owt.
We've been told to only scan the ones we're going to deliver in our individual loops on our own pda's otherwise they won't show as delivered, seems odd to me. You don't do that then?
The PDA might not show it delivered but that has no effect on the tracking seen by the customer as long as
somebody has scanned it at the doorstep as delivered/safeplaced/neigboured/739'd.
The entry just stays on the PDA until you log off. There's no warning to say 'You have undelivered parcels' or suchlike.
The whole point is to give the customer an ETA window for delivery message. If you don't make that window because
of specials or whatever - meh!
So I can scan them all ready for delivery on my pda and my partner just scans at the door step as we used to?
That's what we've been doing and management haven't told us it's wrong.
It's also the scenario when somebody gets back in a van and is sent out
to track down/assist a HCT by taking stuff off them. The HCT tracked are delivered by the van
driver who has not scanned them indoor and is not even 'a delivery partner' as in van share as it's not a van share.
I think that as long as the parcel is scanned on the doorstep as delivered (or not) then who or how the parcel has been scanned earlier is currently of little importance.
I don't understand why a van share (which is one duty) has 2 separate barcodes.
The assumption that the driver does the odd loops (or even) is nonsense.
Perhaps all these things will be ironed out in the fullness of time. They currently aren't worth fretting over.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

- if management don't get back to us and say WTF are you doing, then we're not doing it wrong!
Zero training, make it up as they go along.
They are trying to improve delivery predicted times. But in reality it's more of a hassle than it's worth. I work with a part timer and I used to have everything bagged up and loaded into the van. But now the part timer has to scan their own tracks to the PDA which means we are 40mins later leaving the office. And that's just one experience from a company with 140,000 staff. And anyone who says "why don't you use their PDA to scan them in" hasn't seen the poster that says no one is to share their PIN with any one.

you can still scan with your pda. After you have done yours save as a draft then exit and scan his dutys barcode scan his stuff save it to draft when he logs on with his pda scans his duty he will have the draft and he can send it to cloud then its on his not yours.
Or just ask if you can scan them all with one gun. It won't make any difference.
This - if you're a van partnership your loops are not that far apart that it won't make any difference to the
delivery window timings that get sent to the customer.
So what happens if you don't STC, then just scan when you deliver them???
They wouldn't come up as ready for delivery or delivered?
Been doing it for a week and no one said anything AFAIK they are still scanned in in the morning as ready for delivery. Stupid idea anyway, how can they give an accurate time for delivery anyway when you may have to divert for a special or do parts of the walk in different order or even when you're going to take a 40 min break?

Bugs me how you have to be a bloomin IT expert in this job now. Sooooo much s**t to remember and do just slowing us down. Does the customer really give a s**t what time their pkt is allegedly going to get there. Think as a customer I'd be more fed up at having arranged my day to be in for the half hr slot or whatever it predicts, only to miss the delivery because the system can't predict the speed I'll get around on a particular day or when I'm going to take my break.
This is only the start of it, soon the pressure will be applied to be at the delivery point within the allocated time or questions will be asked. No doubt a "premium" service offering the customer a selected time slot will rear it's head soon enough.
Delivery as we have known it has changed, our whole day will be micromanaged.
Bring it on.
20 minutes of non delivery to go out of your way for a timed= bring even more back.
It's got to the point where most of us are past caring.

This is all pie in the sky.
The "delivery window" needs to say 0930 when you get out, to 1400 or whenever you finish delivery. (Insert new rimes here).
Even if you scan in the order you normally do the loops, this usually needs to change anyway to slot in your 1pm specials.
It literally is undoable as things stand to give a 1 hour window.
So much has changed in last 3 years or so; if they want this they need to separate parcels from letters completely.
Oh hang on...
