They've got past Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas, without even flinching.
Without flinching?
They lost £200million in cash, shitloads of lucrative contracts, a whole load of regular customers and their reputation is in tatters.
The problem is members still think it's 1995 and the damage strikes do is measured in a backlog of mail, that isn't going to happen even if we strike for two weeks solid.
Yes. They didn't flinch. Hence, why we have to go through more months of this shite.
Had they flinched, they would have made some meaningful concessions. They didn't. So, here we are, again.
How do you know we own 9.9% is that up to date info? I and a few others that I know of offloaded them first chance we got bad memories of the share in success scheme being one of the reasons.

Rough calculation, if tomorrow every CWU member (120,000) bought £180 of shares, our collective holding would go up by just under 1%. That would be about 6 times the average volume of shares traded daily. So yes, it may well move the SP on the day in a northern direction but , There are nowhere near 120000 posties buying shares and if there were, would they be buying £180 worth and for a sustained rise in the SP, we would have to keep that buying pressure up because guess what, if we were raising the price by buying say a grands worth each in a week, there would be a pretty hefty chunk of profit taking to bring it back down again. Share prices aren't not just dependant on buying and selling though, market sentiment is a big deciding factor too.
It's a nice idea but doubtful it would work.

Surely if the Markets got wind that Postal Workers were starting to buy up shares then that would change Market sentiment as others piled in.
Any institutions that were Short would also have to buy to cover their Shorts.
Yes, short sellers would have to cover but I go back to the point that there just aren't enough posties with deep enough pockets to budge this share price. Sentiment says we have rubbish top brass in the company , as seen in the parliament enquiry, a militant unionised workforce and are loosing £1mln a day. Who's gonna jump in and invest in that. At best it would be a pump and dump and all the posties that bought into the idea with no idea on shares, would be left sitting on losses.

Many of us are already nursing losses of nearly 2 grand by going on Strike.
We do have an advantage over Kretinsky in that we can buy Shares at a deep discount through our SIP.
Even if 70000 members bought their full allocation for the year through their SIP we could easily increase our collective holding by 25% this year.
Given that the basic premise of this argument (that the share price is being deliberately deflated to allow Kretinsky to buy us on the cheap) is nonsense, it follows that the rest of the argument is rubbish.
What is the average price Kretinsky has paid for his shares?
What is the minimum he would he have to offer/share to ensure a takeover?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

You don't believe it's plausible that this company isn't being run into the ground on purpose?
If it was who benefits?
Our problems must just be caused by inept Management then.
With regard to any takeover I believe it usually costs the buyer a 20-30% premium over the Share price.
I must say that this industrial action has been extremely fortuitous for Mr Kretinsky with regard to keeping the Share price down.

25% of 5% is still very small chips in the grand scheme of it.

I've seen it mentioned on another thread somewhere that if DK wanted to take over IDS he'd have to
pay the average or some sort of premium to the average share price he's already paid.
I don't think this is true, he could offer peanuts if he wanted https://www.fool.co.uk/investing-basics ... d-mergers/ but am happy for someone to provide the evidence about the average/premium to average priced talked about if I'm wrong.
An organisation called The Takeover Panel ensures The Takeover Code is followed by all parties involved.
However, it is important to understand that neither The Takeover Panel nor Code decide on whether an offered price is fair or whether the deal makes sense for the businesses concerned. That is for the shareholders to decide for themselves.

We collectively own around 10% of the company already through the Royal Mail SIP (5.9%) and the Royal Mail ESOP (4.9%).
Ok if that's the case then everyone putting max in will increase total holding by 2.5% ish. As we are all individuals though and not one entity I don't see how it would be of any benefit?
