This appears to be standard procedure for those at the top.

The chat with the hacker shows them reading from the same script.

We can't X Y and Z because we don't have any money. Wah wah we are so poor. We are losing £1 million a day.

Yes the strikes would have a financial effect but would it really be that much considering all the wages they have saved and pension contributions etc?

I would have to question the Slymans mathematical skills, i am sure he went to college and got a degree in business studies or the likes, but i am afraid his adding up is around about primary school stage. 1 million a day before industrial action and quoting 300 million loss with 200 million attributable to the strike action does not equate to 1 million a day losses through the business, more to do with his refusal to interact with the union and try to break us. Guess what over 95% say feck you. Good luck to him next week when he gets a almighty wedgie from the parliamentary Committee and whatever that results in for him is all self inflicted.

“The CWU need to urgently consider our offer…”
Does Simon not understand it has been considered and rejected and no matter how many times it’s considered it will be rejected. You need to put a better offer on the table if you want it to be accepted, Simon.

And that is exactly why the CWU have not got a deal. 24/48 hours strike does not work with a twat at the helm.

I call on the CWU to bring this dispute to an end quickly. We now have another outstanding yes vote. Don't waste it. Call an all out strike. RM will then have 2 weeks to come up with a serious offer. It will also stop executive action being forced on us which nobody likes.

Because Thompson didn't have the right security in place the hackers are demanding £70million+.....

so this is probably one reason he's coming out with this as he knows he's got to pay out millions to hackers.
The UK Government recently announced companies are now banned from making ransom payments

All out strikes won't work, too many wouldn't support it given the current economic climate

Are union members really going to support such a move?

Not a chance. Nobody can afford it, unless you still live with your parents or something.

This^^^

What the f*** does he think that this vote was about? We have wholeheartedly rejected his miserable offer and, if he doesn't see some sense, we will cost RM the whole of the rest of that £1.7 billion war chest and then some.

The only thing that I can't understand is why the CWU haven't already announced the next set of strike dates. Surely these were decided by the PEC in the weeks leading up to the ballot result. Time to show Thonpson that he is going to be responsible for RM losing far more money and customers.

I'm guessing that they're waiting to see if RM go to court and try and get the ballot thrown out

1 or 2 day strikes are not working now. Work to rule will not work, but I will say it will frustrate RM. Executive action will continue. Less rounds more staff become reserves and then rostered crap shifts. More agency staff will get employed. Part timers can't work up to full time hours. It's time to stand up and say no more.

It’s not change to meet the needs of the customer though is it Simon? It’s change to force people out the business and force a reduced USO.
Exactly. It's not modernisation they want. They just want to shift money from the workforce to the shareholders and executives.
As far as he's concerned, the shareholders are the customers. Whether it be delivering widgets, making widgets, or some other industry; how the money is made is incidental. Cannibalise the service, employees, real estate - all that matters is the continuing extract of profit. If they could somehow make people pay for nothing they would. They're certainly trying.
The machine stops.
