The reason I said local reps should become involved is precisely for the reasons you mention, who knows better the individuals capacity, who cuts corners, what the levels of traffic are and when it's at peak and most importantly the area and what could be possible/reasonable and what it isn't and that's where the negotiation comes in.

Yes, you are right however Royal Mail are ignoring the reps and using skewed data as the gospel.
That's the problem. If they followed the framework and negotiated with the reps then there might be some sensible changes.
They are just pushing through unrealistic changes through executive action. The union have officially pulled back from the revisions because the data is wrong.

The Union should change strategy, talk about Xmas strikes beginning in August onwards again. Posties are tiered and broke from the industrial action. Any strikes this time of year will achieve nothing but put our wages in the hands of shareholders and Simon bank account.

If the managers are pushing through changes with skewed data with unrealistic targets then the rep points out the problems as he/she sees them and if they don’t work then the rep is justified and if they do then the changes aren’t unrealistic. I don’t think RMs strategy is to create unrealistic targets/changes but to create a situation where letters delivery and packet/parcel delivery are split, rather like the split of RM and Parcelforce so many years ago, a situation much easier now that it’s a private company I’d have thought. I wonder if anyone either shop floor or union hierarchy have considered the possibility of new contracts tendered by RM to the current workforce with new terms and conditions with a sink or swim proviso.

Not in delivery mate but a lot has changed in 10 years also in mc's too.
So your comments are welcome but as i say job has changed massively.also cwu are not engaging with management at local level at least.so no point in saying reps get involved as they have been aaked not to co- operate.new contracts are already in for new starters.

I retired 8 years ago when I was 69 which had nothing to do with the state of the job at that time, more to do with the fact that the taxman was taking the total sum of one of my pensions every month. I'm still in contact with ex-colleagues and understand how changes have become more draconian even in that short time, I'm just concerned that a once great organisation is being whittled down to extinction and the workforce being treated abysmally by both the management and the union at this point in time.

Simple answer read the whole agreement whether you do or not is up to you. Or do you like myself not read any of it just say yes or no to a decent payrise.like majority of people do please do not even try to do deny it most posties dont giv a f--k show the money truth hurts.

I think you've put your finger on it there.
In previous deals a lot of Posties have just looked at the pay rise, or the paltry Bonus offered for signing up. I can remember sitting in WTLL sessions where all some people said was, "When do we get the money"?

Later on they're the same ones complaining because they've signed away long term allowances for a quick buck. Example: IMO the signing away of individual D2D payments was a massive Con!
