The crossover of data between tracked and walk logs is useful for those who are not familiar with duties.

I.e a reserve or new entrant now has access to hazard details the minute they scan a tracked.

If I’m cynical, this also provides the company with a convenient get-out of any liability to self employed owner drivers who get injured/attacked by a dog when delivering RM parcels.

I wouldnt trust a pda to tell me of hazards, I've had loads warning of a dog at the property when there isnt one

That'll be because the walklog or whatever it's called is out of date, the dog probably died or the owners moved house years ago, by the same nature the PDA won't warn you of a dog if it hasn't been updated, if you can find someone to admit to it being their job then they should be able to update the system.

A few months back they went round asking us for any hazards on our walks and they dutifully noted them. Hasn’t meant that our PDAs hazard list is at all up to date but you can bet that if anything happens it will be our fault for not keeping the list up to date. There should be an edit feature on the PDA.

I tend to vary my starting point due to specials, flats access button, and yes a bit of variety, eg getting the tough part out of the way whilst fresh so to speak... .

I can't wait to see how that works for a city centre job with 9am specials, shops/companies that are closed and require circling back to, and doing lapsing either at the start or at the end depending on road closures and the previously mentioned timed deliveries.

I agree I cant see that happening within the same business. How a mainly letters business with small packets ,a bit like it was 15+ years ago would fair I dont know, is such a business even feasible in the coming decades? I think theres money in letter delivery at the moment, but for how long

Probably letters and small non Tracked items will be delivered on alternative days of the week? Looking at my own post this week I doubt many customers are sat at home waiting for the latest Cotton Traders sale brochure etc to drop though their letter boxes, what's the point in us delivering just one letter a day to most houses?
