It also takes years, both indoors and out on the street, to PROPERLY know the areas/walks on a certain postcode for sorting.

Think of the threat value alone if the CWU were to announce a solid one week strike in 14 days' time.aiden01 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 00:30Weeks at a time surely your joking nobody would be out ffs.Flashman_ wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 00:07A resounding yes from me. We have no choice, RM have made this an existential threat to the Union which is our only protection against exploitation.
I find it astonishing that anyone would think that now is the time to give up. Personally I would like to have seen us all out for weeks at a time, but the union has to keep those that waiver on board, in the spirit of unity. Those that moan that they cannot afford more strikes, should remember that no hard fought battle was won without pain. Get over it or get out!

No threat value in strikes now. Too many have jumped on the same strike bandwagon and the response is now merely "yeah you're on strike, so what?"
Compared to NHS staff (of all types) etc etc the non-delivery of this week's pizza leaflets isn't a cause for concern to most.

You had me going for a minute there.Eduardo wrote: ↑05 Feb 2023, 17:44I loved the ethos, the equal opportunities, the care for the sick and disabled, the voice we had against bullying and harassment.
The fact that if you were targeted by vindictive managers deep down you knew you had a chance to challenge their behaviour in line with royal mail's conduct code and a trade union that would support you.

“Shorts,in this weather?!”
“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”
“What’s she been ordering now?”

The threat alone would push many people into breaking picket lines.Splappy_McSplap wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 09:58Think of the threat value alone if the CWU were to announce a solid one week strike in 14 days' time.aiden01 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 00:30Weeks at a time surely your joking nobody would be out ffs.Flashman_ wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 00:07A resounding yes from me. Re: yes or no in ballot
Maybe you're so rich that a day or two won't matter to you, but I work on a 28-hour contract, my girlfriend on 15, we have to spend more time with our child because of her speech problems.Splappy_McSplap wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 14:57Why? You wouldn't lose any more pay than a day here and two days there.
For me personally, further strikes don't make sense because the family is the most important thing and the cost of living is rising
I've been fighting with you guys, all year, but I'm tired of ridiculous 2-day strikes and then making up for these days, with staff shortages with pay for 3 days of work.
As a reserve, I am also mentally burdened.

So what do you propose the CWU do?

Re: yes or no in ballot
Our revision go live next week out of 20 walks they have took 3 walks out and made 3 walks part time so a strike day that week will be chaos they have displaced 5 senior posties who now have no walks all 25 years plus in the job all made to be reserves with there rotates took away its a complete disgrace management looking after the new starts by putting them on the part time walks and giving them the rotates that use to belong to the senior men you couldn't make this up

The CWU are fighting for their own existence. That is their priority. If they ‘lose’ this dispute they are finished,

Re: yes or no in ballot
I voted yes, but as I did so I wished the CWU had been more proactive before I started (30 hour contract, 4 weeks leave that gets dished out in the most slapdash way I've experienced in my 24 years of working, constantly being moved mid-prep to another walk, treated with contempt by our rep because "part timers don't count")
RM have ideas for the business that seem to come from a spreadsheet on a commodore 64, that will be detrimental to not just the workforce, but the business as a whole.
The CWU have ideas for the business that they struggle to articulate, and are almost always on the back foot acting surprised.

I am no fan of CWU leadership - who i think have been weak and incompetent - again
But it will always be a YES - no matter what
