Wish our manager would say that, despite a looming lazy removing duties type revision so in effect mega lapsing, over half the office still come in early, they never stop for a break and ignore any attempt to suggest doing otherwise.

Legally where do both of you stand?
No way will I be signing for any van if I'm not in complete control of it during the times I am legally responsible for it.

It's just one stupid suggestion/instruction after another with RM isnt it. When it comes down to taking responsibility for a vehicle on the road it's your licence on the line not the managers. Imagine you and your partner both sign for a van and your partner goes through a speed trap or has a bump when you arnt in the van, sometime later a fine or complaint come through and your partner just denies it, or has left the business

As a none driver I have the 'spare' other key. Some of our loops mean I finish one loop where we both begin the next, so if the driver gets to the beginning of the next loop before me he can set off walking and I can pick up my bag from the van or on some other loops if I get back to the van before him I can get on with my next loop. Bit daft him hanging around for me or the other way around

Probably more so the ones who deliberately ( in their view ) won’t drive even though they have a licence. I think they will be targeted with all the executive action on the way- unless the union can stop it. They have removed one or two from their duties where I am on some days, effectively making them a reserve.

That’s Tommy rot because if you are not driving the van, it’s pointless for you to do the van check because it’s all about making you responsible if there is an accident.

Exactly this. That's why the driver does the van check on their PDA. They are effectively saying they are responsible for the van until they log it off.

I don’t like it one bit. I’ve been hauled into the office because my Trimble said I’d driven at 32 in a 30. Guess what, I now slow down and usually drive at 27/28.

I’ve since done park and loops on the same street with the driver doing 40-45 in that same 30 zone.

I’m not having that argument about who was driving, trying to remember who was driving on a particular street, or even worse a dishonest colleague claiming I was driving when it was them.

It's not just the trimble. Van gets flashed by speed camera and the one responsible is the name on the PDA that is currently logged in for that van at the time the camera flashed.

The former Tory minister's wife told a court that one of them was behind the wheel of her car when it was snapped by a speed camera going 63mph through roadworks on the M62 in a temporary 50mph zone.
But Mrs Hamilton, 53, explained that the couple shared driving duties on their regular long journeys and she couldn't be sure who committed the offence.
"Yes, it was speeding but I couldn't tell who was driving," she said. District Judge Alan Berg accepted the explanation and threw out the case.
