There's a mention in another thread that in the NE region, RM want to get rid of about 900 walks in the NE region!fb1969 wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 18:01The office I left in August is carrying 17 vacancies on 70 duties, and there has been no recruitment for over a year. Over half the staff worked their days off over Christmas pressure, by doing that they played straight into the company's hands. Duties will become bigger and the number of posties will drop.

That's not really managing easily though if you are failing mail everyday.POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 17:13My unit could cut 20% of staff and manage easily. We couldn't have managed 3 years ago but things have changed.
The mail is never cleared. I've seen staff being sent home on a morning because their jobs are lapsed or their mail is left in. They owe the time back or take annual leave days. Still plenty of staff knocking off early.
We haven't followed the uso since 2020.
It's illegal for management to deliberately plan to rotate days of mail delivery.
Should highlight what is happening.
If people go sick or do not take up the overtime that is different but if they are planning to fail mail then that is wrong

Ditto thatFilthyBloke wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 18:21I’d be happy with later starts.
8% pay rise.
The changes to sick pay are fine by me.
The other changes I’d have to just get on with.

But you’re not thinking about the 1000’s of posties who pick their kids up from school so later starts are a non starter. Maybe take later starts on a voluntary basis but who would sign up for that? We have to think of what the ‘collective’ want/ need!curleigh wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 18:37Ditto thatFilthyBloke wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 18:21I’d be happy with later starts.

It depends how flexible these flexible hours can be. Later starts may enable them to do the early school run instead? Or they can come back and finish their duty after the late school run. It’s an option.49erman wrote: ↑08 Jan 2023, 08:50But you’re not thinking about the 1000’s of posties who pick their kids up from school so later starts are a non starter. If the work arrives at the inward MC later, then it's going to go out to the DOs later, meaning you won't have any choice, like us on nights in MCs you WILL be starting and finishing later

Re: CWU : To all CWU members (Royal Mail Group)
My gut feeling is every office will start at least 71 hours later and duties will be 6pm until 3am.
Some time savings could be made by running batch 1 sequenced as a PMSL which throws batch 2 into the batch 3 stream, enabling 26.43% of batch 2 to be integrated by the FML system, this frees up batch 3 to go via LAMF unless batch 1 is running on a LOL programme, the problem you’ve then got is batch 4 if needed couldn’t be sequenced unless the previous 3 batches are recalled and pushed via TTYL, that would mean all 3 waves need to be sent to a seperare superhub. Obviously once all 3 batches have been done they’ll be sent back to the MC along with the 4th batch and all will be mixed back in with tracked and specials and sent to the DOs 71 hours late so they’ll have to be manually sorted anyway.

take anything to feed the foxes) and if it comes back it'll go out on a shrink wrapped wooden pallets because
all Yorks were dropped off at the Tesco frozen food depot next door to the NDC just off the M1 by
mistake (or were they were sent there intentionally by a renegade manager to show that the NDC was 'clear' of all Yorks?).

What about the LMFAO wave 9 techno-sort? It won't get to DO's until 17pm?HTPostman wrote: ↑08 Jan 2023, 10:48My gut feeling is every office will start at least 71 hours later and duties will be 6pm until 3am.
