I’m sure it is but the instructions will come from your manager so that’s who you deal with. Ask for it in writing to take to your gp and see what they say.

Yes they have been very quiet for the last few weeks,what i was afraid of is becoming a reality now ,Royal Mail have started to push through with their agenda with no answer from the CWU,is this the beginning of the end,by the time we ballot and call for more strike action it will all be over,its happening at lightening speed in our office with no rep or senior honcho from the union responding,they got shot of the union at virgin media and British gas is it now the turn of the CWU to feel the full force of the establishment.

But it gives you a point of reference if your manager sanctions it in writing and it will help with any future appeal process should the manager do it , heard nothing in my office so I’m guessing it’s just another scare tactic from Royal Mail.would also be interesting what your gp would say on seeing the letter.

They've been doing this in our division for a good few weeks along with `inviting` the long term sick in for a chat about their illness during strike days.
Our union reps have been told to give out` letter before action` on illegal deductions to anybody who has had their pay stopped.

One thing I do know is, that being told that you aren't getting sick pay contains miracles! A couple of lazy b******s in our office pull the same sickie every year, the week after Christmas. Well the same boyos tried it last week to be told that they weren't getting paid. Guess what?? All of a sudden they weren't as sick as they thought and were in work next day!!

Not really , it bullies people into coming to work when they aren’t 100% .Makes me laugh when people accuse others of milking the system. Royal Mail have a sick policy and guidelines that they’ve signed up to . Why should people struggle through a days work when the company has no real compassion for them.

Who is accusing? I'm telling you a fact. The lads I'm talking about boast about it. This is the 1st time in 5 years one of them didn't do it because of the pay stoppage. The other was the 1st time in 8. Both were gutted they couldn't pull a fast one. Both were 100% fully fit. I understand what you are saying with people that are legitimately ill and I agree with you. Its not on that their pay is stopped. Its the ones paying the game that annoy me

Thing is this aint just aimed at guys playing the system its aimed at everyone might not be as funny if you are floored with the flu but still have to come into work to put food in your children's stomachs or a roof over their head.

I agree 100%. It's aimed at us all. My point was that every office have their chancers that play the game and now that they're not being allowed a free pass for a week off on full pay and they can't get away with their wee move all of a sudden its a kick in the goolies for them
