I was a “the mail must get through guy”
Have found once you get to the point of just not caring, it does get easier.
I have taken the example of Team Simon & the board, they don’t care, why should I!

Probably 10 Yorks of mail to be sorted, casuals on duties, I'd say 6-7 short staffed with 10 on sick leave - and talk of getting rid of 10-15 duties. About 5 doing letters sorting, used to be at least double, many have never even done it. Get so many missorts lately, they don't always get returned same day to m/c , plus dsti/ RTS crap which they think you can look through to find maybe 5 'live' letters in a box - wildly out of date by now. Can remember everything being so well organised, imagine this mob running the mail trains 🚂

I sympathise with those who struggle with it but in my experience you’ve only got two choices: either learn to say no or have an utter s**t job. Sympathy doesn’t get you far with your typical RM managers; some are nice but they still do operate a “get what you can outta ‘em” and the ones that have learnt to say no don’t get bothered anymore.
I have a colleague who refuses to wear uniform. He was hounded at first, union was involved. Now, for years, the managers don't hassle him anymore.

Well it is up to the management to staff the office and ensure clearance on a daily basis it is not the fact the the postman/postwoman controls it is a failure in leadership and planning and communication by management or lack of!
I am not saying otherwise. The point I am making and that few people seem to be able to comprehend, is that some people suffering from mental health issues struggle to handle the daily mental battle of having to approach a manager to explain to them something that should be fairly obvious to everyone that the workload is too great for the time given.

Some people have no issues with this, and some people have big issues with it. Those that don't have an issue need to understand that others may struggle. My experience is that the average postie has no interest in anything that doesn't directly effect them, and they would much rather see people struggle than to offer any help.

Saving my own mental health was a prime reason for me quitting after nearly 10 years, so I didn't just give up and walk away. I pushed myself too far for too long and got out just before I totally broke. By the end around 40% of the problem came from ignorant colleagues and 60% from management. I wish posties well in their current "battle" with the company, but it will only stand a chance of being won if the workforce unites and I rarely saw that. Failure to understand that others may be 'different' to you and may think differently certainly doesn't show any form of being united.
Agree with this 100% :Applause :Applause :Applause

I've seen it first hand, people just can't handle the stress anymore of daily telling managers that they need to cut off because there's too much and then get the same questioning day after day after day. Then the managers are walking by their frames checking on them ever 10-15 minutes, pulling up anyone who talks to them, nit picking on any and every mistake the person might make and then the good old "we are going to prep test you" and when they pass nothing gets done just back to the same old routine and another "prep test" a few more months down the line.

All this because some people will do the job exactly like royal mail says it should be done, show it's unworkable and then suffer at the hands of incompetent bully boy managers.

Me too, I would clear everyday whatever, but it turns out my hard work and loyalty were not enough; it seems they want to own me, like a slave. Well they have lost me along with most of the workforce. Don't know how they can expect to get more out of us like this. Thompson really hasn't got a clue.

That's why Simon Thompson and the other board members positions have become untenable.. It's clear they have completely lost the workforce It's time for them to step down . Let somebody else who's actually got a clue on how to run this company take over .

Same here, I think most of us were, was thinking back on the run up to Christmas we'd sort of accept that it was busy and get on with it, obviously moaning a bucketful along the way plus many who didn't generally work overtime or days off would also go the extra mile.......fast forward to this Christmas, they ground us down that much goodwill disappeared, the comdom gave up, said just do what you can, we didn't have the overtime ban that many on here had but walks got left in/brought back as no f***s were given.

When was the last time we had a ceo we actually liked though?
From what I recall Rico and Moya weren’t popular either.

They would have both done what Thompson is trying to do. Maybe they would have had a little more grace doing it.

Any CEO we get will want the same results and the only thing that is guaranteed is that the staff lose out.

Wasn't Moya brought in to ensure we were privatised?
It has been all downhill since then.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Yes, she was . As far as I can remember we were able to reach some reasonably decent agreements with her and at least she turned up for every meeting with the union .

I can't remember any agreement Moya had any input into.
