Being a member of a Trade Union is about protecting peoples jobs and conditions at work as a collectIve force.

Many Angard workers are long serving and CWU members that the CWU want now gone.

Why do Royal Mail contracted staff think they are superior as a worker?

Why should they stand on the picket line shouder to shoulder supporting their colleagues when their colleagues treat them with such contempt and in reality, cutting their own throats with that support?

Why would I care for agency workers that get paid more than we do for doing the same job, can take days off whenever they feel like and you have some as team leaders getting paid extra taking them above £22 an hour and the majority of them don’t really have a clue. They are asked do they want permanent contracts and their answer is always no cos they know they would get paid far less. They shouldn’t really get sympathy from any proper Royal Mail staff no matter how long they’ve been there.

Angard agency workers get paid exactly the same as contracted workers. The only time that is different is the Sunday night shift. And to even get that you have to be working more than 12 weeks. Any less they do not even get paid for breaks.

Where did you get this idea of £22.00 an hour from. You need to stop listening and spreading erroneous Gossip.

There are no team leaders in Angard, let alone working in a Royal Mail establishment.

Most Angard staff would jump at a substantive contract but Royal Mail managers personally have not recruited for years as that discretion has been taken away from them. It is all done through an external recruitment agency. Being an agency worker makes no difference.

Thats what I was pointing out and they dont have any rights like non,flip side they dont have to go to work on any given day.

Angard workers have their own pension scheme. The downside is that you can't pick and choose when to work because the shifts can be few and far between, and the competition for them so intense, that to refuse them makes no sense of you rely on Angard for all or most of your income, and turning down shifts can put you on the wrong side with the agency, cutting your chances of getting anything in the future. Agencies can play favourites, just like mangers do. It was a big source of contention, and you were forver comparing notes with colleagues to figure out who was getting what, and which ones were lying to you.
