Re: Strike attendees
By going in and breaking the strike is the exact reason we will end up not even in the middle ground, dont people realise there is no middle ground with royal mail .they are coming for everything,by breaking the strike you are handing them that big stick to beat us with,if they are skint wait until they get a serious illness and won't get sick pay.notts1862 wrote: ↑20 Dec 2022, 20:50We all should be in solidarity against Royal Mail. But let's look at the bigger picture there's a small minority out there who have with held there labour over the past months but are know seriously struggling financially. Come next year they could lose there homes and and upto there eyeballs in debt. With no financial help off our Union I will not begrudge any postman for crossing a picket line over the next two days to save there family.
Yes I will support them at work because I don't want to see a fellow colleague struggling to put a roof and food on the table for there family
It's all down to a Mexican Stand off between Royal Mail and the CWU. So please come to some compromise and find a middle ground![]()

Re: Strike attendees
RM are playing the waiting game. They know all they have to do is drag this matter out and eventually people will start creeping back on strike days. Unfortunately not many RM workers are in a position to carry on these strikes indefinitely!
I for one will never cross a picket line whether it for against RM or any other strike action. But we all have our own responsibilities be it mortgages or feeding the kids. So I won't hold any grudges against people going back to work if that's what they believe is what they have to do to look after their families.

Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Re: Strike attendees
Best thing I did was walk past that picket line.
I have zero in common with those folks who believe that terms and conditions come before family and mental health.
What’s good is now people are ignoring me so I don’t have to waste time listening to their drivel. I just get paid.
And all those who think the public think of me as ‘embarrassing’ whilst my brave comrades are heroically holding the picket line are mistaken. All I have had from the public is ‘thanks’ and other words of support.

Re: Strike attendees
What you need to realise is not every strike breaker is struggling financially, in my office all the strike breakers are full timers on the biggest contracts, when I’m stood shoulder to shoulder with a part timer who is losing 12 hours pay off a 20 hour contract i have nothing but respect for their sacrifices, so don’t presume everyone is doing it to save their families, some people are just plain greedy, they don’t want to lose money but are happy to reap the rewards we earn from striking, mark my words, they will not be forgotten

FilthyBloke, what is wrong with you? Not about your strikebreaking but about your obsession with posting comments on here about your strikebreaking.

Re: Strike attendees
They've cooked it up because they and half the posties are delusional to think a job can't evolve. Protect t's and c's fine, but working practices should be touchable by an employer. Who the hell do we think we are?! Oh if only the public knew they were making us work till same time as us, oh the buggers want us to work the odd Sunday too. What? You want us to work our time, you b******* royal mail.
Yes the union have failed to negotiate change

Defending myself is not a crime. Plus I think it might help other people who are struggling and thinking of going in but are too scared because of the lifetime of bullying/being ignored/harassment etc.ProudhonPJ wrote: ↑21 Dec 2022, 06:15FilthyBloke, what is wrong with you? This is not the only job in the world. At the minute I’m more than happy. Even with some of the proposed changes I will still be happy. If I become unhappy I’ll find something else.

Re: Strike attendees
If this is to be a war of attrition, then action cannot be all strike days, us losing pay while bosses laugh at us.
Action will have to take the form of a strict work-to-rule, along with an overtime ban, as well as a Saturday/Monday strike every other month, as I can see this carrying on well into the new year.

That, I will leave to those on a higher pay grade than me, in the CWU, to solve.aiden01 wrote: ↑21 Dec 2022, 09:52Agree with a lot of your post but cant agree a sat/mon strike every other month what about those who only work tues to fri??DirtyHarry wrote: ↑21 Dec 2022, 09:31If this is to be a war of attrition, then action cannot be all strike days, us losing pay while bosses laugh at us.

But, if striking two consecutive days, whilst losing just a day's pay two consectutive weeks is possible, then that would be ideal in my opinion.
