It isn't a completely daft idea but it does seem to be a bit too difficult for most people.

As I would imagine the reserves and part-time staff would be most disadvantaged by this not completely daft idea I'm surprised you're supportive of it.

It's a pain but not a huge difficulty if you know the order of the delivery, absolute s**t show if you don't.

How do you put your D2D's in especially if you only take where you are going on a daily basis? Second run of mech isn't usually sequenced so how would it work? Could take hours extra, good plan.

When this mad idea was first touted the plan was that you'd juggle two bundles - one of mail, the other of door to doors.

If - BIG if - a far greater proportion of flats and letters came walk-sorted, then it'd only be annoying. As things stand it's silly - it will save no time at all overall.

Sounds like something they'd try if they are running out of space in the office or there's a new build without a frame. Can't see it working as the go to way to sort your loops.

Bet no one at your DO has updated Route Planner (what used to be known as A+) in years. The data in Route Planner is what's used when the sequencing sort plans are written

No MC sequences wave 2, it's the nation workplan for wave 2 to be walk sort only

Some of our guys have been asked to trial this today. Essentially you get your mech mail and the sort your manual into it without a frame. Literally flick through and put your flats and manual in and then tie up totally without using a frame. Anyone else had this?

Same as now, you look at the mail for the appropriate address and redirect if required.

This may, sort of, work if you delivery to house in number order i.e 1 to 50, but walks rarely work like that so you'd spend hours flicking from the sorted pile for each house, although if the street didn't appear in the sorted MECH you'd never even find it.

As far as having a pile of post and a pile of D2D's, that may work on Day 1 but what happens on day 2 etc, how would you know which house already D2D's and which didn't, or are you going to cold call the full street?

What's worrying whoever is coming up with these crazy ideas is probably also advising ST that we can start deliveries 3 hours later etc w/o it causing the business any issues.

I genuinely think the people who come up with these ideas, who have never been a postie or worked in a DO, would be totally shocked if forced to do a few weeks on delivery and witness what we do.

Maybe if they did get some front line experience they might actually come up with some useful and workable ideas to improve efficiency, instead of this sort of insulting nonsense.

I’ve actually done something similar to this when I was sent to deliver to a new estate where only the tracked had gone for the previous few days. For some silly reason which I’ve since forgotten it was brought out to me. I was given 2 days/boxes of mech, 3 boxes of flats. It was awful, I had no idea on the order so stood there on the streets for about 30 mins trying to get it in order.

It’s a ridiculous idea - like others have said, not so bad if it’s 1 to 49 then 50 to 2....nightmare if it’s Rose House, Granary, Lodge House, Manor Hall etc.

As always with their hair brained schemes, bring it on, I’ll just bring even more back.
