I should also like to say that the purpose of the Union is not to be united - what sort of statement is that!
The purpose is to get the best for their members - simple as!
It is possible to be led by donkeys - be vigilant and not be a sheep!
I am probably as critical of the union leadership as anyone who posts on here. I think that they are out of their depth. When Terry Pullinger was up for re-election however, neither I nor anyone else fancied the job and stood against him. He was re-elected unopposed. We all lost our chance to change the leadership at that point so we now have what we have.
Once we have voted to take industrial action however then we must all stand behind that decision. What do you think that the definition of a union is? To me it is coming together and standing as one to work towards a common goal. That common goal is to obtain a pay rise at least matching inflation and to protect the terms and conditions that those before us fought so hard to achieve on our behalf.
The views of non union members are completely irrelevant to this dispute between the union and management.. If you want a say then join the union, pay your subs, attend meetings, put forward your own proposals and convince your fellow members to support your point of view. Standing on the sidelines whingeing that you are bound by collective bargaining is frankly ridiculous. How far do you think that you would get if you had to negotiate your own pay, terms and conditions as an individual?
But yet you still refuse to stand side by side with your colleagues to stop the above from happening!!!
No, im genuinely scared of losing big contracts and having no job at all when its getting rather scary out there bill wise. Id sooner have a crap job than no job.
You don't think that the board will, in reality, be equally scared of losing big contracts and the company ging under? If that happpens then they will have massively failed the shareholders that they are employed to protect and ensure that they get a good return from their investment.
At the moment there are more job vacancies than job seekers. If you are happy to have a crap job then there are already plenty of such vacancies. I want to keep this a decent job with decent wages and decent terms and conditions. I am prepared to fight for that. If RM goes under as a result then so be it.
I am confident that I can very easily get another job if it came to it. You claim to have worked in other jobs, so you should also be confident in yourself that you won't simply be out of work. You come across as someone who is seriously risk averse - someone who won't fight for anything at all in case you end up on the losing side. The problem with that attitude is that you are aslo likely to achieve very little if you aren't prepared to take a risk.
Thankfully most people aren't like you. They are prepared to fight for things that matter to them. You, on the other hand, will simply accept whatever you are offered and be grateful for it. You really are an employers dream.
I believe in a honest days pay, When broken down its not a difficult job and I believe £12.5op/h is well paid for what we do.
Yes i am risk averse.
Yes I have had other bad jobs, thats how I know even under the proposed conditions this one would still be better.
Its deeply worrying that you (and others ) would happily see RM collapse and put the people who want to work here out of a job. Maybe upskilling yourself into a better job than we currently have is an option?
Sure feels like a difficult job to me, i must say. At least incredibly physically draining. Leaves me often unable to participate in things outside of work as im just far too exhausted. But i know not everyone suffers it as much as i do, we are all different. And not all our rounds are as tough as others. Someone doing a mainly flat delivery wont be suffering half as much as someone on a very hilly and steppy route.
Iv already said I won’t be going on any more strikes after this Thursday and Friday.
Iv had lots of abuse because of it already, people refusing to work with me (even though I have/will do the 4 originally planned) and the odd comment.
But I don’t actually care. My wife is seriously ill and cannot work and I have 3 young children to feed and bills to pay (ever increasing to pay - even more when the energy caps go up next month) and my priority will always be my family.
We have no family near us to support us and I refuse to put my children’s well being and our house on the line.
Interestingly I went to the picket line last week and they all said “ooh you think you can’t afford to go on strike but you certainly can’t afford not to...” yet they are all in their 60s, houses paid off and no kids to look after.
So I’ll hope for a decent negotiation but if not my decision has been made.

What confuses me about your post is why make that call and inform people now since you've already committed to striking Thursday and Friday?
There may not even be any more strikes but you have alienated a lot of members (and continue to do so on here*) so why make it public so early?
*I've never really understand the need to go onto social media and announce that you'll cross a picket line anyway, it seems unnecessarily provocative and pointless.
The views of those who voted no, voted to strike ( but didnt really want to) and those not in the union arent relevent in this situation?
Have I moved to China?
The views of those not in the union are totally irrelevant to industrial action organised by the union. If they don't pay their subs then they aren't entitled to any say at all. They accept what they get.
Those who took part in the vote and voted "no" made their views known by doing so. They were in a tiny minority. As union members they are expected to then unite behind the majority decision.
As for your other suggestion, who the hell would take part in a secret ballot with 2 choices and vote for the option which wasn't what they really wanted?
Have you moved to China? Go on. Make my day.x
Sadly everyone's view is relevant because we have collective bargaining and some might feel that the Union is actually jeopardising their jobs and future whether they like it or not! It is hard one to work with if someone really does not want any of the Union's stuff or disagree with them - it is like a cartel!
Some people here will go on the strikes and then berate the Union when they strike a deal - there is no pleading everyone. Are we going to vote on the agreement reached - I doubt it!
Of course we will get a vote on any agreement reached youve now joined 2year postie on ignore list.

If your so poorly off why take 2 days of strike an then take another 2 that yet might not happen then go back to work??? Seems a very strange decision to me. NOBODY CAN AFFORD TO STRIKE BUT WHERE HERE TO WIN OR GET F--KED OVER AN I CERTAINLY WONT BE LYING DOWN

can't you contact rowland hill? they maybe could help
I'll have never met anyone who is in this forum but I hope you all believe me when I say that I will fight 100% for you and with you all and always will. We are in this together (well at least the majority of us who have a strong moral compass!!) We WILL win and we WILL be better for it.
Well said mate!
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)
Ive blocked this clown and dont see his posts but those who are arguing with him keep quoting his bile which means the rest of us who have him on ignore still have to read whatever nonsense he is spouting.
Do us all a favour and put him on ignore too please!
We can't have a thread on here now without you popping up and derailing it with the same old same old... and stop private messaging me with your lies and bullshit.
