Network review and later start times

Have I got it wrong, or were we not meant to be notified in December of the new start times due to the Network review. I’m sure the CWU promised they would brief us.

The start time change has been delayed till April, or later for some offices. I believe the time changes are due to be published by the end of the month/early February. I think they have been delayed as the CWU is still trying to reduce the upheaval as much as possible. Whether they will be successful, who knows?

Maybe the business has realised that by moving the times by an hour would have a negative impact on various areas of the network.

Personally moving the times by an hour or two could have an environmental problem by causing more congestion on the roads. I see problems trying to get into blocks of flats, especially if the trade button cuts off at say midday.

A question was asked about specials and would we still have to deliver them before 1pm. It will become problematic if we have less time to deliver the specials.

Like everything in this mad business nobody really has a clue.

The plan to move to from air to rail, which was going to cause later arrivals at mail centre's has been put back from January to June I've heard.

The union are totally deluded if they think it'll be just 15mins. For that to happen the work would have to arrive within 15mins of the current timings. That's physically impossible. It WILL be an absolute minimum of half an hour. Anyone in the union who says otherwise is talking out their arse.

This isnt correct at all and in a previous thread it has already been pointed out to you why this isnt the case.

As it stands mail arrives in DO's waaaaay earlier than most peoples start times and will still continue to do so when the changes come in. So its not a like for like impact change. DO's will be able to absorb much of that change without too much upheaval to staff. The key thing is that there is no down time between wave 1 and 2 arrivals. Which a 15/30 minute change would be enough to mitigate against.

Unless the figures that have been shown are way way off which I don't believe they are.

I believe you’re right. I can see my office being 90 minutes.

The late stuff will be at least an hour later arriving at the Inward MCs. However much later it is both waves will be made later by the same amount. Then by that time the wave 2 is going to get stuck in traffic.

I can see RM wanting to expand on LAT by making the start times in DOs late enough so that they all go out on normal walks.

You've got more chance of winning the Euromillions jacpot a dozen times in a row then you've got of the changes being just 15mins in DOs
