What does a chief executive office do?
Manages and directs the company toward its primary goals and objectives. Oversees employment decisions at the executive level of the company. Leads a team of executives to consider major decisions including acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, or large-scale expansion.
As a manager, the CEO presides over the organization's day-to-day operations. The CEO is the person who is ultimately accountable for a company's business decisions, including those in operations, marketing, business development, finance, human resources, etc.

I know he'll look at this thread, or at least be shown it as per.
I have added a poll, personally, I feel that he has presided over the worst xmas in the history of the company, and his language and attitude on Workplace is something to behold as we have pointed out here with our RMCtv feature.
Remember, at the start of our RMCtv features, and with his presence on Workplace, he did not know how various functions worked, recruitment being one of them.

Is it all down to Simon knowing what's going on but cutting us below the bone regardless, or is he being misinformed by the likes of DOMs/middle/higher management? Answers on a postcard, to be delivered when we have time beyond insane Covid parcel levels.

Christmas was and is always hard on delivery but most staff went the extra mile to get the stuff done for there customers and friends on there deliveries and 9 times out of 10 got through it , BUT, to bring these massive revision changes in of mixing different dutys , different working partners , increasing deliverys in November was just going to be a massive disaster ( what iceberg ) comes to mind and all this was just to please the shareholders even though staff knew what was going to happen , so who is to blame ? and the cwu are to take part blame on this as well , and do any of them realise how much pressure they have put on the staff by doing so ? so sick with stress has gonre through the roof ,and most of the staff and they good will has gone out the window and moral if any has gone backwards, but thats just my opinion in our office. so whos to blame ?

It’s not just Simon though is it. This company is a dinosaur playing catch up in modern era, our technology and equipment is out of date or non existent.

The culture isn’t going to change at all when bullying is enabled by both the Union and management from their ridiculous shambolic revisions and agreements. If the majority of stress is caused by this then surely that is the problem. Rip up the agreements after xmas and start again.

This is a good question. Simon has achieved his goal at least for now. He’s pushed highly anticipated revisions through. Share price has been inflated at least for now and major shareholder and most likely some if not all directors are in line for a generous dividend payment. It’s all rosy for people heavily financially invested in the company. For now from business perspective he succeeded. However this was achieved by deteriorating staff well being and most importantly with total disregard to our paying customers. In my opinion this is not a sustainable business model. It won’t work long term. He should leave.

The figurehead for RM's worst Christmas ever. Disregard for the wellbeing of staff, making insulting comments to those with mental health problems.

Pathological liar. Says he wants to hear from people but ignores everything that disagrees with his agenda, I had a one-to-one chat with him and he took in very little of what I said. Patronising and condescending use of the word "team".

Finally realises too late about vans being needed but then doesn't notice there is no one to drive them!

Probaly get a nice bonus.Only 21 offices with issues according to papers from Simon. Papers saying it staff of with sick. RM should be getting done for fraud.

For me the problem is this it's been the worst 2 years in RM and this xmas is bad(as we knew it would be) yet ST defiant response is that everything is Ok absolutely will not accept that revisions are a problem(its the sick levels).Always always has a way of deflecting and shifting blame (ie the media are out to get RM the service is fine).
All revisions should of been done lots of haven't but still goes on about how it is job done.
Workplace as a propaganda tool facts and figures only showing the way he wants you to see it (the decline of letters for example of how we have too many vans) and for me the stance that people on the sick are the problem...is well.....sickening.

Mental health problems have swept through royal mail , do our bosses care ? No , you explain your struggling with stress etc , what do they do ? Heres a revision with huge undoable workloads , get on with it . So we work through the pandemic, the worst revisions in our history and now a shambolic christmas . Simon no wonder mental health issues are rife in our offices, merry christmas to you.

The problem with Simon is that if you surround yourself with yes people who toady around agreeing with everything he says you never actually get to the truth, all you get is" Yes Simon", but then again i suspect he already knows all this and relies on this to bury his head in the sand and keep saying "team" and "that was all in the past" and anything else to deflect from the truth. We on the frontline know what is happening and at some stage the public will get to know what is happening and this will alert the shareholders and Simon will be sent packing, to be replaced by the next CEO, and then the cycle will repeat. Royal Mail think they can compete with the parcel delivery firms on a level playing field, but they forget us poor sods have to deliver mail at the same time(D2Ds too).

Should he resign? I don't know what I do know is that whoever is at the helm nothing will change for the better for the postie's. 21 years in and the decline of RM has really accelerated since privatisation.

The excuse for heaping unachievable workload onto us because letters are declining is delusional. RM will never compete with dedicated parcel delivery companies whilst having to deliver letters and D2Ds. The time to deal with delivering a parcel, dealing with the scanning, photographing, finding a neighbour, walking around the property to safeplace, writing 739s. When I started the route was timed and the workload generally corresponded with the hours and consisted primarily letters. So a rural route for example would have 450 delivery points currently the 450 delivery points are still the same but 100 more drops have been added + lapsing + more D2Ds which equals more prep time the increase in parcels and the time to deliver them compared to letters and there has been a reduction in the working week hours. Plus as we have been moved out of our rural office to the MC has added 40 mins travel onto the duty.
Any suggestions that this can't be done within the duty time is met by threats, bullying and constant surveillance. Is it a surprise there is so much sickness with stress?
RM have to decide whether they are a leafleting company or a parcel delivery company they will never compete with the dedicated parcel companies whilst trying to do both?

Going back to the large number of sick absence this will pave the way for dropping the full wage sick leave as RM will claim they can't afford it.
