You're probably right, but many/most seem to view them like Stonehenge in that if we never had them we wouldn't build them, but there's no point in removing them now.

As said above, remove the monarchy and you'll only get some other twat who fancies being top man or woman, and being rewarded for their political failure.
Someone like Johnson, Starmer, Junior Kinnock, Mandelson, Emily Thornberry, Saddiq Khan, the list goes on.
Your argument is dogmatic, tenuous and nebulous, at least mine is cynical enough to recognise how events would sadly play out in a new UK republic.
It's all rhetorical anyway as there's no general appetite for their removal as Head of State.

As for the tourism. It wouldnt change one iota. In fact, we could turf them out of their homes and open it all up to tourism. Huge amounts of art is locked away by them as well. Windsor castle wouldn't disappear. Just ask the french how they are getting on without theirs.

For the record, I couldn't care less for the monarchy, but I also couldn't care less about these same tired old arguments for becoming a republic.
Judging by the amount of people who queue for hours to see things like the Trooping of the Colour, Changing of the Guard, Kings Birthday, Xmas morning church visit, Remembrance Day, etc etc, the people themselves are indeed the attraction.
You'd have to be naive in the extreme to believe that any of the residences or art work would make it into public ownership were the monarchy to be abolished, or that anyone would pay good money to see run-down empty residences.
If they just wanted to see castles, crowns, coaches with horses, princesses, thrones, flunkeys etc then Walt Disney does it far better, and you get sunshine guaranteed.

The same old tired arguments are the same as they were then and as they are now. It hasn’t changed because these cretins still exist.

Because the arguments against the monarchy are so weak. Getting rid of them would be deeply divisive, for what gain? And replaced by what? Somebody elected? So yet another politician for everybody to hate.

To be replaced by a democratically elected head of state. Just like plenty of other countries do.

If that’s what you want to call it, yes. Though, given that politicians are vital to a functioning democracy it’s not really the dirty word you think it is.

Anyway. I think we’ve made our positions pretty clear and there no real need to carry on.
