Re: Exemption Process
I don't think this will be the one and only change of times in all areas. Think that once it's been in place a while, some areas will be pushed back more if the wave 2 lorry isn't getting to the DOs early enough

Re: Exemption Process
I care for a disabled person. I've been refused exemption. Suffice to say, I'm going to appeal. When that's rejected, I'll be taking things much much further

Re: Exemption Process
Just out of interest how much is your office moving ? And when you requested an earlier finish was there anything you could think of suggesting to enable that, or are they just stubbornly refusing.

Re: Exemption Process
I think anyone found to be lying or exaggerating claims for needing an exemption should be dismissed and prosecuted if possible.
Of course there will be a very small number of genuine applicants, but they will need to provide comprehensive proof.

Re: Exemption Process
IF there was any level of dishonesty I agree that it should be delt with using the proper in house process. Honesty and integrity should be the fundamental values in our staff given the nature of our work.
I can't imagine that there is even the slightest grounds to attempt to prosecute and leave any individual telling a fib or two to try to make the best of the poo storm that we are all going through, with a criminal record...
how many of your colleagues suddenly started shouting about their devout Christianity the moment regular Sunday working looked like it might be on the cards?
I'd reckon about 30% in my place
The real issue is the other way around, that management are so afraid of letting the odd chancer get one up on them that they are coming down unreasonably heavy handed on the few genuine cases.
Or that they are so fully aware of their lack of skill in managing the overgrown children who will be crying "it's not fair..." When they have no clue why someone might have been granted an exception that it's easier for them to lose a good worker than do good work on the management front.

Our office is moving 60 minutes. I offered to compromise and move 20 minutes, which would still allow time for hospital, medical appointments etcted_e_bear wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 21:12Just out of interest how much is your office moving ? I hoped for.reciprocated compromise but was given the standard response of NO!
They're quite happy for.all the work to sit in my frame when I'm off, and expect me.to clear it all up.upon my return. Last time it was 3 days worth, the time before, 5 days worth.
I.now work to.rule. Rigidly!

I agree that this might be the case and RM are dipping their toe in the water regarding the later starts to see how it pans out. But if Royal Mail want us to complete mail on frames like they have suggested - by delivering mainly 2c every other day - why should we bother waiting for the wave 2 lorry to turn up?
Wouldn't it just be easier to make sure that as many 1st class letters are in wave 1 and then sort through wave 2 the following day?
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Can you not make medical appointments an hour later?Philbag70 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024, 17:17Our office is moving 60 minutes. Surely your finish times vary through the week / year anyway?

Re: Exemption Process
Never known hospital appointments to have such flexibility.

Re: Exemption Process
Me neither. But you are entitled to time off for hospital appointments, no problem.
After all, they don't happen every single day of your working life at exactly the same time.
Do they.

Re: Exemption Process
Depends on what's wrong, some people have weekly visits sadly.
I had a 4 in a month and was expected to take my days off to match, the visits were due to a work-related issue so the union stepped in.

Re: Exemption Process
After the 1st couple of days of the 2C every other day you'll be back to getting 2C through every day. The 2C gets processed through the machines along with the 1C. Don't know about the PSMs and FSMs but for iLSMs and IMPs, when the inward sort plans are run, the 2C gets extracted. That is then run separate and then gets run during wave 1 (sequencing) the next daypostslippete wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024, 18:22SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:33I don't think this will be the one and only change of times in all areas. Re: Exemption Process
Of course. But daily? Permanently? Within a strict 1 hour window so you need to be given an early dart from work every day?

Re: Exemption Process
Sure some people need to go every day, there will be evidence if that is the case here. Whether or not Royal Mail see this as his responsibility is something else.
