Especially when it helps to protect US from denial of receiptsexetererica wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 19:22What's difficult about doing the job right?
If your job is to get a picture of the door open, why the f**k would you submit a picture of someone's hand or someone sat in a car FFS
Don't take shortcuts. Protect your job, mortgage, marriage, etc
Either get the doorstep photo or take the parcel back to the depot.
What could be simpler
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

When I know the folk who accept the parcels i ask them to pose dramatically and throw the horns whilst holding the parcel in front of the open door. METAL!!!

I'd be utterly pissed off as a customer if this was followed how it (used to) say on the photo screen. Now they've opened it up a bit so you can safe place it anyway.
They pay us to get proof of delivery so the recipient doesnt say they didnt get it or we lost it
But for me, my customer is the one who has ordered and paid for the item, and paid us for delivery of the item. i.e. the recipient.
Similarly, if I want to send my Gran a card, I am the one who pays for the stamp as payment for Royal Mail getting the item to her
She doesnt do a thing. I am Royal Mail's customer.
Always a pedant.

Re: Photographic Proof of Delivery.
Its not pedantry, its a fact that the photographs are for the benefit and request of those paying Royal Mail to deliver the item so we should be doing what they ask. It stops the recipients or 'customers' or whoever you want to call them claiming they didnt get something they did which saves companies having to chase RM for compensation, send out 'replacements' and ultimately helps protect our jobs as we are the first people questioned if a 'customer' says they didnt get something ( even when we know they did )mjd24 wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 21:15Acca Dacca wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 17:31The person we deliver to doesnt pay Royal Mail at all at any point. Re: Photographic Proof of Delivery.
The recipient paid for the item, they paid for delivery of the item, so as far as I am concerned the recipient is my customer.
Taking blurry photos of whatever rather than insisting on stupid door-open poses isn't "taking shortcuts". It is doing the job in a respectful and friendly way so I stay on friendly terms with my customers rather than looking like just another Hermes prick.

If you really want to cheat the system you scan it as not delivered and then go to the indoor menu and scan it as collected.sindba wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 21:42The recipient paid for the item, they paid for delivery of the item, so as far as I am concerned the recipient is my customer.

No need for blurry photos any more.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

We were told if there's a known dog there, then don't take any risks, so a photo of a closed door is acceptable.

Re: Photographic Proof of Delivery.
You all need to stop using your own common sense and follow the SOP (S for Stupid) as directed by the company. Just because there is a quicker/better way to get the job done doesn’t mean it’s the right way. If recipients are going to get upset then so be it maybe then RM will review their new bright idea.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You probably might want to have a word with our Customer Services department or perhaps visit one of our Customer Service Points, there's probably one at your DO.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑10 May 2022, 21:43You can call whoever ye want your customer - it doesnt make them so
Both the sender and the recipient are customers because they both use our service, both pay for delivery, sometimes directly and sometimes as a third party.
It's our job to keep both types happy because without one you don't tend to have much need for the other.
It's a stupid point.
