Would we be able to choose if we are part of the pairing or solo?
I’m guessing there won’t be many that would want the solo part?…

I would take a solo part, even if that means I don’t get every Saturday off. Less walking doing packets and first class every day, I’m at the age now where that would benefit me.

The times I’ve worked by myself I’ve enjoyed it a lot more.
Even when busier I find it a lot easier to get into routine.

The solo part is rotating. You would do it on every third week, the other 2 weeks you would be on the walking part.
The union has stated that it defo has to be rotated to eliminate walking fatigue for all 3 posties.

How would that work for non drivers in regards to fatigue? They can only do the walking duties and will have no option to rotate to solo packets only.coconutty wrote: ↑01 Feb 2025, 22:50The solo part is rotating. If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

The non drivers would just have to deal with fatigue… it’s all back of a fag packet stuff and constantly shifting goal posts.

The pilots end after the OFCOM consultation period ends, so it’s all a complete nonsense because somewhere in the system Delivery 2.1 is being trialled. Any word on that? What happened to Delivery 2.0?
All of these ways to avoid just delivering the pigging Mail cost money to plan and organise. You don’t have to look far to find the source of losing a million a day.

As far as I am aware the pilots have started.... let's get some updates from anyone from a pilot office. How's it going so far?

The first Pilot will commence in Newton Mearns from 24th February.
The other units will be phased in over the next 3 months.
Ofcoms proposed a number of USO reforms on 30th January all which are aligned to Royal Mail’s preferred USO model. It is open for consultation until 10th April.
Ofcom will then make their decision in the summer of 2025.
We will provide regular reports on the Pilots.

Re: USO pilots, can anyone on the trial give an honest appraisal
Does anyone believe Royal Mail will make our rounds manageable again if this USO change happens later in the year.
The whole point in the USO is to meet standards, Royal Mail hasn't given a rat's ass about standards for 4 years. How can we or Ofcom trust that Royal Mail are going to run a service that meets the new standards if they are introduced. Will Ofcom dish out much bigger fines if RM don't comply?
