Thought there were health and safety issues carrying bags on your shoulders. That will obviously go out of the window so the newbies get round quicker!!!

Somehow it's my job to ensure all gates are shut, even had some woman follow me to another loop to tell me I'd left her gate open and I hadn't even delivered there
Good luck to the newbies coming in to their new jobs thinking it's all sweetness, coffee and donut stops. You're all in for the shock of your lives and a massive reality check.

Another fkin pleb.mjd24 wrote: ↑22 Sep 2022, 18:32Its quite revealing that it bothers you so much.POSTPERSON50 wrote: ↑22 Sep 2022, 15:49Why does Royal Mail fear putting white male faces in any of it's output?
We are a proud diverse company, but we are not made up of 97% women, posties of black ethnicity or Asian workers as every Courier or promotional video suggests.
Represent the white male too! It's not a bad thing!
(Yes it's okay to mention this if we're ever going to embrace equality)
It bothers me cos its beyond silly.

Brilliant. I have seen these very looks of disbelief and horror. It's normally okay for the first couple of days, put on a sedentary walk with a WPC. It's when a few people ring in sick on Wednesday and bright eyed newbie is herded off to work with Mick the seniority hardened Moaner on a duty that hasn't gone out or been so much as prepped in three days.Fannybaws wrote: ↑24 Sep 2022, 09:10Falsely portraying the job like that could come back to bite them on the backside in a big way. Imagine all the "youngsters" seeing that thinking it's going to be just another social event at work and then they walk in on day one and see the $hit show the job actually is indoors then the looks of disbelief and horror on their faces when they get back after 4-5hrs of delivering and not even a chance to pop into a bakers or cafe for a coffee and donut or have a conversation with a pensioner and customers ranting at them for late deliveries or not shutting their gate 3 weeks ago. Not to mention hightailing it down a few garden paths after Rocky got out and decided he wanted a piece of you.
Staff turnover is going to skyrocket.........
That look of disbelief and horror of which you speak then starts to morph into panicked fear as the COM soothes into their ear "you don't have any problems staying out over your time until it's cleared, do you?"
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

Followed by “erm well I have a hospital appointment at 4” to which the CON says “oh you’ll be done well before then, won’t you Mick?” which results in Mick nearly choking on his false teeth. “Just take it out, see how you get on and give me a ring later.”crimson king wrote: ↑26 Sep 2022, 05:51Brilliant. Later on phone switched off, CON is on the golf course.
And they wonder why our retention rate for new starters is about 20%.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.
