If we don't work to rule ( just means doing the job properly) no coming in early for free, no running or speed marching on delivery,no working through breaks, even if it means not working days off, so be it , because otherwise we will all be fcked and we might as well as just let RM do what they want I'd rather fight than surrender to those scroats running this company

Forget what the Union can do concentrate on what you can do and the small battles you could win. Once one person starts generally a small number of others will follow at some point. It won't take much in a DO to turn it into a bigger mess than it currently is and RM managers aren't capable of dealing with anything out of the ordinary and need an instruction manual to run a bath.

Their only answer will be to try and bully you. Hold your nerve and composure, log every conversation down in a diary, tell them you're doing this, and if possible never speak to any manager without a witness. Put the ball in their court they'll crack before you do.

And no matter what always back your fellow workers. Don't let managers play their usual games of divide and conquer, it's how they always win.

Reading these posts I don’t think Royal Mail realise what a good workforce they've got. People who regularly go the extra mile without fuss and look after their customers.When we leave they’ll be left with people on short term contracts who don’t give a monkeys about the job. It will have a long term effect their just to stupid to see it.

Hopefully rolling strikes,and a ballot to work to rule and an overtime ban would finish them off,internet shopping for xmas would collapse as other couriers could not cope with our workload ,lets hit them hard and finish them off ,its the only way,lets send thompson and this Tory government the workers are not taking it anymore,Truss thinks she is a Thatcher but forgets coal was a dying fossil fuel deliveries is a growing sector,she can't close us down or shut us up.

Refusal to drive any van with even minor defects. Things like vans with mirrors taped on, is that really safe? Doors which don’t open forcing us to unload parcels/bags etc on the road.

This is a great one.

CWU ballot for work to rule

Then put out we want everyone to pay “particular attention” to their usual van checks with a list (okayed by a road safety expert) of all of the things that “could” (hint hint) fail a van check, or even better, a list of things you can’t be conducted for refusing to use the van (lower threshold, eg decent dents, rubbish inside).

This must be the majority of our fleet.

It would grind deliveries to a halt.

Members still get paid. Overtime might even increase as posties wait for vans to be replaced / fixed or alternative delivery methods used.

We should be doing this!

Edit: and before someone says you should be doing this anyway, then you must not be very experienced in RM. I assure you, the effect having a union “initiated” move to do this would be huge; most people just drive the vans anyway, to avoid confrontation with managers, and because they just want to get out there delivering. Once a few of the more confident ones start it won’t take long before everyone is doing it. Especially if the angle starts being played “Bob mate why you taking that out, that could cost you your licence mate and I’m seeing you do it”

No.
It will be down to management to resource the D2D situation in order for it to be delivered to specification, all we can argue for is the time to do it.

We cannot decide what mail goes and what doesn't and that includes D2D.
