This is getting silly now. Fed up being treated like mushrooms regarding the union. I understand they represent other parties but please an update would be good. Even if they turn around and say Royal Mail and not meeting and we've nothing more to say. At least we know where we all stand. COMMUNICATE WITH US PLEASE

silence is obvious. Royal Mail aren't interested in making a deal....

we are waiting to see if this takeover goes through, no idea how long it's going to take before it either happens or collapses.

We're getting more comments and rumors from fellow Posties.
I feel they are sending us in to battle but with no real end game. Just talk to us and there be no silly arguments between us.

I don't think the unions stance is "wait and see"

Striking for one or two days is making an impact but is it big enough?

Patience is key, and I know how everyone is feeling right now which is frustrating. It's not the unions fault that RM are not willing to come to the table and properly talk about the business & the people.

I think the union really need to make a bigger stance on striking for longer. If we don't extend having 3 or even 4 day strikes this coming xmas then RM will walk all over us because they know the mail etc will be cleared within a day or two.

One of the other threads mentioned about an o/t ban which would work but the reality is, it wont happen.

In for the long haul me thinks. Neither side are willing to budge so it could go on for months. We had one like this in the early seventies so I’m told.

When they went out for 7 weeks and returned for less than they were offered in the first place?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

A start would be telling us how much % they're supposedly fighting to get us

I dont see why that matters? Isnt it sort of obvious what we want/need? Everyone would want 10%+ but realistically im sure we’d accept 6-8% as long as we get a decent compromise in terms of the changes RM want.

They will never do that. They will not openly set a target.
If they do they they set themselves up to fail.
At the end of the day if they do get an increased percentage we will have the opportunity to vote and say whether it's enough.

The problem is they want us on strike. They want to prove to government that the core business that we all rely on to keep a roof over our heads is unsustainable. They want rid of uso. They want rid of gls (asset strip) and they want rid of long timers on respectful contracts. It's not about sustainability or growth it's all about a quick buck and that's why Thompson was brought in. If you look back at the four way vid a year or so back you can see him smirking to someone off camera. He was brought into build trust with us and pullinger and then take us to the cleaners while we were all up in arms over a complete lack of respect. We need a person who cares about the growth and future of the business. Anyone of us could be in charge during this time and make quick easy money. He was lucky enough to be appointed during the middle of a pandemic. How proud would everyone be if we could deliver new services and products knowing we were valued and receiving a fair wedge off our efforts made. It's a disgrace. No money for uniform. Has he even heard himself. How can he say it with a straight face whilst still referring to us as team. The guy is void of morals and seriously deserves bad things to happen to him. I wouldn't step in to help if he was being beaten in the street that is for sure.

Long drawn out process this.

It will end with the share price hitting such a low that Thompson will be got rid of, then the business will change it's hardline stance, but not completely. We'll still be unhappy with some changes but they won't be as drastic.

It'll become frought. Apathy will set in, staff will be irritated and will just want a semblance of normality to return.

That realistically could be well after Christmas.

In the meantime, Thompson will continue to be a cock.
