Bank holiday during annual leave

Post by Broxi51 »

Hi, Can anyone help. I was off for 2 weeks commencing 29th August which happened to be a bank holiday. Had I been working then my day off would have been Monday and I would have been given a day off. If I was on Annual leave and my day off was any other day apart from Monday then I would have only used 4 days of annual leave. My Manager is saying that because I was on holiday and it was a bank holiday week and my day off would have been Monday then I lose a day compared to all the other staff. Surely that isn't right. I don't have a dedicated day off when I am on Annual leave.

It gets added to your leave car as a bank holiday credit.

Correct, the hrs that you are scheduled to do on a Monday will be added to your leave entitlement but maybe not until April. You need to see whoever puts that data into the system, don't presume it'll be done automatically.

I am on holiday, back in work on Tuesday.
I asked about this Monday as it is booked off as Annual Leave.
I was told it’d be automatically credited back to me.
I will keep an eye on it though.

You can’t cancel leave on the app which is a pity as I could of done this sat by the pool and that would of been the end of it.

Your manager is WRONG (I know hard to believe isn’t it) when you booked your leave it should have automatically not booked you off on the Monday.

PSP is quirky on Bank holiday payments while on leave. If you are on leave during a bank holiday week and your day off is Wednesday then your psp week will be BH/in/off/in/in/in. It will only take days off your leave when you are due in, therefore four days will be taken from your leave. If however your day off was the Monday then it will be BH/in/in/in/in/in and it will take five days from your leave. In this case the manager needs to manually put in a BH credit. Been over two years since I was at RM so it might have changed but I doubt it.

However if you don't have a scheduled day off then you should still get a Bh credit.

The Queen was still alive and tomorrow wasn’t a Bank Holiday when I booked the leave.

Just checked on the app and today has been refunded as a credit.

Looks like my manager was right.
