No need.

DOs are so understaffed now, and what few staff they do have, so demoralised, all we have to do is what we've done the last few weeks, the natural conclusion will take care of the rest.

My DO is in complete turmoil. Management are really going to have to pull out all the stops, before the usual mad Wednesday arrives.

The deeper we get into Autumn, the stronger our hand will get.
Totally agree. Even before the strike in my DO, there were numerous rounds that had had no delivery for 7 days. Customers are starting to complain (not about the strike but how RM are behaving). I just explain what is going on and that they ring my manager and tell him what they think.
I does the same thing. :Applause

Go out for a week and the strike collapses, when you are having your house repossesed because you can't pay the rent the judge will have zero sympathy for you. I can go all out for a year and still live, can you? The vast majority cannot, they do overtime to survive, not because it is loads of fun.

not being funny but how could you do without a wage for a year?
Because I am extremely lucky, I wouldn't want to do it as I would end up skint but I could do it, how many others can? I wish I could retire but that would be just the same, money would run out. Too many armchair warriors calling for all out strikes. There was a 7 week strike, a relative of mine took part, they didn't win.
I hear you.there will be others here my age would have someone they know in the past was a miner(for me it was my dad when I was young)that led to some crazy memories as a kid and well that didn't end well..

I think we need to let Christmas get nearer, while having the occasional strike every other week. Then once Christmas comes into view it's time to start escalating the action.

Simon has done one thing that no other CEO has manaaged to do and he has done it amazingly well. He has untited the staff, (us) and our managers against him. It has always been them and us, now they are hoping we win. My manager is fuming, he said, if his union had had any balls, he would be on strike also.

I remember the last functions strike processing, distribution and delivery three days of disruption for loss of one days pay it was very effective and soon brought the management round.

Anyone else suggesting different on this thread is clearly a management stooge trying to sow a seed of doubt and uncertainty, ignore them think of the bigger picture.

AFAIK back then there was no law that allows RM to flood an office with casuals/agency to replace striking workers. You also didn't have any parcel hubs (either sorting or delivery) and you didn't have agency/casuals making up a good % of staff on each shift in MCs

The problem we have is that occasional strike days aren't a massive inconvenience to the public. Receiving mail a day or two late has been accepted for a long time. The managers and a few skeleton staff can tick the business over while we sit at home.

We don't have the same effect on the public as the airports, trains or buses have if we all take an occasional day off.

This is one big positive though, as the public are generally supportive of our strike action because they aren't overly inconvenienced.

The negative is that occasional strike days don't massively inconvenience Royal Mail either. In fact, there is a lot of money to be saved in basic wages for them on strike days.

If we put three days or more of strike action together it will hit us in the pocket, no doubt. But that action would severely impact the operation, and would quickly bring the network to a standstill. It sounds very regrettable because this is our workplace that we are talking about harming, but this is the type of action that needs to be taken immediately.

Only then will our real power be apparent.
