A lot of people don't do overtime as the work after a strike is huge and thus people will not do Overtime after a strike!

They seem intent on making it impossible for older staff particularly brutal now without having to stay out and finish. Already set to make job a lot harder by cutting Hours at our office despite having full revision recently.

I wish, colleagues in my area don’t seem to realise that strike action is meant to hurt the company as after strike days they are doing an early mail run because the normal lorry delivery was stopped due to the drivers striking and then not having a break and then doing overtime to clear the work. I bring back work every day more or less and then I’m isolated in the office.

Years ago a part timer once asked me "why are we part time for years" and i said "it's because of all the overtime you are doing, there's no need to make you full time if you keep completing every day or doing extra for them is there."

He then said " but i need the money " and i said "that wasn't the question was it ".
CUT OFF!!!

As a PT on 24 hours, it would hardly be worth turning up if the ban included ATD.
There will be NO OVERTIME if annualised hours is brought in,the whole point of bringing it in isn't to penalise p/t colleagues but to save RM stack of money.
Incorrect, only the first 10 hours of extended delivery will be banked,Anything over 10 hours will be paid as will day off/sick cover will be paid as ot, as will things such as lats, early ip or things deemed of importance to the company.
Do you believe everything rm tell you ?? If managers are told to make more savings then the 10 hours only banked will be kicked into touch. It will cause chaos with everyone owed time but that’s something they will worry about later.

Overtime ban would, as I think has been said, screw those of us who do not hold full time contracts, from making up to fulltime hours, while those on fulltime contracts, would lose less, or nothing. It isn't a fair idea.

I mean, if I'm on 25 hours and do 15 hours a week (3 hours a day) OT, I lose 15 hours of pay, a full-timer loses nothing, where before the ban, we were on the same end-wage. And RM do not seem to want to hand out FT contracts at all.

The strike days and no "make-up" overtime works more fairly. I would miss the day (5 hours) and the overtime for that day (3 hours), but the rest of the week, not lose my usual overtime, meaning I lose the same as a full-timer, 8 hours.

I've discounted the wonky short working week stuff for this example to make it easier to work out, fully aware FT is down to 37 now. (unless it managed to hit 36 when I wasn't looking, but I believe they stopped that deal from progressing?...)

All this "shouldn't have taken a PT contract then" attitude is quite galling, especially when you're told things like "it's part time in name only, there will always be full time hours available" when you start. Nobody knows what a shambles RM is until they've worked for them a while, and in fairness the only time I've not had FT hours in the last year was for maybe a week and a half before I started getting the early start texts.
I've said it before though, Simon would rather shoot himself and his dog in a bunker than accept defeat

I don't do much O/T but since the yes vote, I've stopped doing it entirely, cut off bring it back and refuse to work my day off. Leave it up to the float if they want t stop out. No point helping RM out at all.
Exactly the same for me. I’ve stopped early IPS too (as far as I know everyone else is still doing it) - I detest the management of this once great company, the crap they spout & the way they are treating us - the less time I’m at work, the better…

I'm ft and don't do any overtime so a ban wouldn't affect me. However I do care about my pt colleagues who aren't in the same fortunate position so I'd be against a ban.

but in my d/o some or quite a lot pt are on a lot more money than ft due them working overtime under the radar, nobody knows who is doing what (thanks CWU) so whilst sniggers are aimed at ft nothing is said to pt because quite simply nobody knows their hours!
we had 2 pt come in other sunday after HRM death and clear 2 walks! what is the point of striking if there is a free for all after strike days?
it absolutely beggars belief, quite a few here are questioning the CWU plan and will leave if dispute lost, we are our own worst enemies

Been there at an office where there was only a couple of us having our break and cutting off when the workload was heavy.
Even got called lazy by some.
If you know you are not doing anything wrong ignore it and remember if everyone had their attitude there would be another 15,000 odd posties looking for a new job and the ones left would be running around like a lunatic working through their breaks and cutting corners just to get done on time.
I used to invite all the managers out with me when they complained.
Didn't come out once.
