Our revision going live next month, 1 in 6, 7 day parcels, no resign, allocation of duties by manager, seniority not recognised...... BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH

f***ing get on with it then, it's your shitshow we don't care anymore!!! :thumbdown
What's this allocation of duties by manager s**t ?
I'm guessing since the Op is saying that seniority is not recognised and if you're teachers pet (comes in early/run round/no break etc), they will get allocated a good duty, so when they finish early, they can help out by getting extra work for Free!! where as, if you start on time, take your breaks and don't run round, you will get a crappy duty, cutting off most days and getting ear ache from the lino.

What's this "change' - that "they always wanted" - btw?
Mail volumes have declined to 1930s levels, so they want working conditions to follow likewise.
The machine stops.

This has come from the Royal Mail BOARD? Blimey, you must be in the know.

What's this "change' - that "they always wanted" - btw?
You just need to connect the dots sindba

We know Royal Mail decided to award millions to shareholders so that there is little money left in the pot for us - and that decision could have only come from the Royal Mail board. A deliberate ploy so that they can then push forward an agreement on the changes that they need to pay for further pay increases.

Theres little point in sarcasm as we all know the changes that they want

Oh and you - sorry "they" - can stick 6% where the sun don't shine.

We're not after loads more money, we're not against change. But we will not accept needless assaults on on working lives - sick pay, compulsory overtime, Sundays etc

A compromise of sorts? You say that you're not against change and yet Royal Mail want changes. They want changes to sick pay, compulsory overtime and Sunday working that you mentioned and will offer something in return for some of those changes.

And before you or anyone else gets angry at what I just said please remember that I'm one of the nearly 99% that voted for strike action. Its disgusting that Royal Mail squandered the dosh on dividends and awarded Simon Thompson a big fat bonus; but I'm also smart enough to realise that being bitter and telling "they" to stick it where the sun don't shine is unlikely to win us the dispute. But maybe I'm wrong and Royal Mail are going to roll over and give us all a straightforward 10% pay rise with no change in return??
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Really hasn’t though, has it? It’s the nonsense they keep peddling, but on the ground floor it isn’t true.
Not even close.
I guess we will now enter the discussion of what we class as “mail”. We all know what they class as actual
Mail, which is only a certain amount of what we actually deliver.
They don’t seem to acknowledge that the other items of “mail” we deliver, still uses resource. So they can peddle the 1930’s levels all they want, that’s cherry-picking at its best (or worst), and irrelevant when the rest of the time is filled up delivering other items.

All streams have dropped, especially so for Tracked and non-Tracked packets. It's not unusual now for us to be doing some of early shifts work

You really need to visit a nearby Delivery Office SP and actually see how much MAIL there is in peoples frames, especially if it didn't go out the day before. :d'oh!

Your constant mantra about mail levels dropping, and the prospect of everyone (in deliveries) having to start later is wearing a bit thin. :speak to the hand

I certainly have enough of Stamped addressed mail (1st Class & 2nd Class), DSA, Mailsort, Catalogues, Brocures, Small Packets, Large Packets, Oversized Bloody Packets, Tracked Packets, Specials and Bloody Household Leaflets to keep me busy! And that's before we start delivering Labels and collecting peoples parcels from them. The little side line of emptying Post Boxes is just a bonus. :arrrghhh

All I know is that I'm out working an extra two hours more delivering MAIL than I was when I first started this job! :cuppa

There is tonnes to do everyday mail-wise. That’s my point. More often than not too much to do everyday. You get the odd Monday once in a blue moon or so, when it might be lighter and you finish slightly earlier, but even on some of those sorts of days you can bet you will be slammed with oversized/specials/collections or something to even things out. The people who haven’t been in a DO first-hand just don’t see it. That’s why it’s insulting that Royal Mail are constantly trying to tell us we haven’t got enough to do/and or are lazy. Try coming to my place and do 6 days a week for 5 weeks straight (which is our shift pattern) and see how “easy/light” it is. They’d give up after a couple of days.

I can only go on what we see passing through the MC and that is a lot less mail passing through the MC of all streams. The Tracked has dropped off massivly where we've lost a load of big contracts. Mech letters are way down, 12-14 boxes is probably about the average now, it would have been nearer 18 a couple of years ago. Mech mail has dropped off enough around the country that RM have started to decommission a few iLSMs around the country. Flats have dropped off a lot recently, a good chunk of what we get through as flats I'd actually class as packets. Manual letters, at a good few times, you just need 1 person to sort it.

You're probably out delivering more through walks being merged over time. If walks are too long then that needs to be taken up with your local management and reps.

I think the later arrival of mail into MCs is now permanent so within about six months I reckon that they'll probably make our start and finish times, along with all dispatches at least an hour later. Like it or not, deliveries will end up doing the same, no company is going to pay staff to do nothing

Is that not because we are in the light part of the year it will pick up in mc's soon,as for depots it definitely isn't as big a drop off of mail as RM are quite obviously pedling.

It's a bigger drop off than would be expected for the summer, going into autumn. RM has definitely lost some big contracts, up until very recently the storage area for the Tracked to be sorted would always have work in it, right until the last 20-30 mins of the shift, now there are a number of times a shift when it'll be empty. At least a couple of times a shift those who sort packets and inward Tracked will be made to sort outward 2C packets and Tracked 48

Seems like there's less online tat coming through now that people have less to spend and obviously covid kits have gone from a sack a day to just the odd one or two. We've had a couple of mail dumps of catalogues and brochures in the last couple of weeks and this will no doubt build up in the run up to Christmas. No time to prep those D2Ds such a pity.

It was on the news a few days ago that people are already cutting right back on their spending on non-essential items
