D2D deductions during strikes

Since the strikes started I’ve noticed that they are deducting D2D payments on strike days! What’s the union position on this? I know it doesn’t amount to much but it’s the principal. Why should we have to do the D2Ds we didn’t do on strike days on the days we are in? Is everyone else being told they still have to do them?

You’re gonna have to clarify this for me. To me, “delivery supplement” IS the D2D payment, which they are taking money back for strike days.

Simply this. It didn't replace the D2D payments. It is a new payment for being in deliveries. At the same time D2D payments ceased. If you didn't do deliveries for 1 day (you were on strike) then you lose 1/5 of your delivery supplement.

I stand to be corrected on this but my understanding is that in the old days we were paid to deliver d2d's ie we got paid for 1/2/3 per week and different rates depending on size . The Delivery Supplement superceded this and is a one size fits all payment to compensate , in effect , for the loss of the previous payments .
Whether you have time to deliver them all after being on strike for 1 or 2 days would be a conversation with your manager .

MC staff don't get a delivery supplement and are outnumbered massively by delivery staff .

Sorry but you are wrong. Business transformation and beyond agreement 2010 took the money from D2D and the ESA to produce a pro rata delivery supplement which has nothing to do with D2D because you get it 52 weeks a year whether you are on annual leave or sick (not on strike tho) and you get the same amount whether you deliver 1 or 6 D2Ds it was considered a necessity by the union as the business had threatened to stop paying for D2D anyway. People used to prep them in their own time, when they got back on a Saturday come in early on Monday etc. Putting D2D into workload was a form of job protection. But you are not alone in believing the delivery supplement is a D2D payment equivalent.....but it isn't end of!

No, No, the delivery supplement didn't replace d2d payments. Royal Mail stated that at the time, so it must be true. It was just a massive coincidence that as the d2d payments ended, the delivery supplement was paid the exact following week. Who'd have thought it.

These days it might be even 4 to 1. Proper staff in MCs can sometimes now be outnumbered by casuals/agency outside of Xmas pressure
