CWU 'urgent' live session tonight 7pm

Most of us aren't interested in all the politics, what I want to know is, how much change will we accept, if anyone believes that nothing will change just because we said so you are nuts. I think later starts are a dead cert, sunday's that too, just a matter of how they manage it, we won't all be needed every sunday. What bothers me most is the annualised hours, not everyone rips the guts out of the job and goes home 3 hours early on delivery and yes, they exist even in my office, they think they have a right to finish early and we have others working over their time. Annualised hours will be a nightmare to manage and to be quite honest, the level of manager we have, it won't be managed.

What an absolute waste of time and breath that was. ZERO news, just an hour of complete waffle, saying the same stuff they say every time they come on. It smelt of frustration to me that they know they aren't getting anywhere.

Yeah the later starts are coming 100%. Annualised hours is a no go be far to difficult to manage. Our manager is already mega stressed every day add annualised hours to it might be the end of him.

RM are by executive action in a few weeks imposong later start times and the end of 1 in 4 Saturdays, returning to 1 in 6.

No even mentioned. Is this change of terms and conditions without agreement legal. What are they union doing about it are they even talking about it. Will we have to abide by the changes what advice have the union issued on these matters.

basically it's takeover or no takeover.

all the 'changes we need' seem like noise and a delaying tactic to bring in a takeover then bring in even more severe changes.


I don't know what this means in terms of winning this dispute.... does the CWU think what the company is trying to do won't be allowed by government?

i reckon we will get a payrise as the union is good at getting that as it affects them, but the poor buggers on the ground doing the hard work will get absolutely shafted with conditions, annualised hours, sunday workings, extended deliverys, walking forever

Urgent or not many union members had issues with the strike action stopped last Friday. This session cleared up reasoning for this in detailed manner, which had not been communicated in great detail on public forums.
Some see it as weak to call of strike action but it was a strong message in my opinion and also correct thing to do.
We are Royal Mail after all, and should be proud to wear the crown and honour 500 years of service in dignified way as country is in mourning.
Picket lines operating shortly after announcement of Queens passing had been getting negative comments, this would of been far worse on the Friday.
Public support would not fully be there had we took strike action on Friday, also we would of received zero media coverage to highlight issues as there is a media black out.

We stand down strikes and go again. Time is off the essence but aswell it has to be remembered we are in a cost of living crisis, these strikes are now being felt in peoples pockets and it is not in interests to burn out people as this will be a long dispute.

got to agree there, i'm not really bothered about royalty and would sooner not have them but there is respect to be shown as a nation as a whole
and like you said, there would have been zero publicity amongst all the strikes planned and not just us
